Question about Synth armor

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 10:27 pm

Based on the Fallout wiki, it seems that Synth armor is better than combat armor once you get the heavy variant. Can anyone else attest to this? And it seems that the armor is very very rare so far...and will always be white no matter which material mod you put on it.

(It would also seem ironic to use Synth armor for a character who is going to side with the Brotherhood for the end-game...from an RP standpoint.)

Synth armor is just plain butt [censored] ugly, so it really doesn't matter to me if it is better or not, my characters will never wear it.

Pretty much this. Except maybe the helmet, which is kinda cool. But what's with the "chest piece" which looks more like a dog collar?

I did look at some images on the wiki and it seems that the higher levels of Synth armor chest pieces actually look like a chest piece. But yeah, the first stage is a bit odd looking, while the helmets are neat if you don't mind your whole face being obscured. Too bad they can't be modded with other colors. Combat armor is the only armor I know of that can be given a faction-specific color/design...

The heavy Synth armor kind of makes you look like a storm trooper if you wear it over a synth uniform but it looks bad if worn over anything else.

I like it ontop of the black BoS uniform, looks more like a stormtrooper in my opinion because they have black colored joints in their armor.

From a storytelling standpoint, synths strive to be like human, so the high-level armor should look like regular human clothing, like what the coursers wear. Other than ballistic weave, I can't think of any other like that. Maybe there are unique synth apparel that I haven't yet found.

that is why Coursers weir Courser armor and gen 1s and 2s weir Synth armor which is probably cheaper and more protective at the cost of apearances because you can tell by looking at them they are not human where as Coursers are less obvious and thus weir more comfortable armor that does not look too out of place.

This. If they'd done it right (artists with some vision and skill), it would have looked somewhat like the stormtrooper armor in Star Wars. Not exactly like it, mind you, but at least more of a sleek polymer covering and not that butt ugly stuff we got.

Do you guys know what level you need to be for the heavy dirty toilet armor to appear in game ? I'm currently lvl 30 and I've read you can buy it from the vendor in the Institute. If I'm high enough level I'll go do the quest to reach the Institute.

I've found this stats:

Heavy Combat Armor

Ballistic - 101 for whole set

Energy - 101 for whole set

Heavy Leather Armor

Ballistic - 72 for whole set

Energy - 112 for whole set

Heavy Metal Armor

Ballistic - 125 for whole set

Energy - 77 for whole set

Heavy Raider Armor

Ballistic - 70 for whole set

Energy - 66 for whole set

Heavy Synth Armor

Ballistic - 103 for whole set

Energy - 120 for whole set
