Curious: Has anyone walled a settlement wno gates?

I was following the wall-or-not-to-wall debates and started wondering: What happens in the case where a settlement is entirely walled in, with no gates at all? How do Supply caravans get in and out? How does anyone get in and out? Do new settlers still arrive and increase the population? Do any traders ever appear? The player character can at least enter and leave freely because he/she can fast travel. But what about everybody else?

I did that at Graygarden but I don't intend to raise the population there and I don't have supply lines either.

I just closed the settlement cause I wanted to plant 6 missile turrets (witch I did) and I didn't want my settlers to run outside the base and be killed by rockets. Haven't had an attack yet, but I'm curious how it will end up.
