DLC idea: going full Lovecraft

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 9:11 am

The homages to H.P. Lovecraft in Fallout games have always been there, culminating in the wonderfully creepy Pickman's Gallery in Boston.

Now that we're officially in New England with FO4 I think it'd be cool to go all the way. Expand the borders a bit to the North and let us explore Lovecraft's New England. Imagine what must be lurking in the ruins of Arkham and Miskatonic University! Or how the deep ones would respond to the collapse of the surface world around Innsmouth. Or how the inbred, backwoods natives of Dunwich might not even have noticed there was a war.

Don't know if it'll ever happen, but I'd sure love to see it.

I suggested we could have something like the abbey of the road seeking an ancient artefact of occult nature, perhaps belonging to Ug-Qualtoth which would lead us to the discovery of some kind of cult, and we would have the option to either join the Abby, or the cultists.

I imagine this could be connected to a underwater DLC and feature dagon inspired enemies, or some kind of mutated human specie that adapted to the life in the murky ocean, sorta like swampfolk where their own race in Point Lookout. In any case, I'd like to see a supernatural type of DLC:

I'm up for more occult Ug-Qualtoth themed stuff. I liked it in Fallout 3, and what better place to develop it further than in Massachusetts?

After seeing that...thing...in Dunwich Borers...I would be so down for more Lovecraftian themed things.

Maybe a road trip to Arkham, Massachusetts.

I'd like to see Beth dust off their Cthulhu license and do a full game in the classic setting.

I get a kick out of their homages, but they're a weird fit with Fallout (for me - I'm an old-school Lovecraft purist so I'm biased).
