Vault 111 settlement location.

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 7:33 am

Why isn’t vault 111 a possible settlement location. I know its basically a tomb but wouldn’t it make since to live there rather than sanctuary? I mean security wise it’s going to be better your protected from the elements and I bet they have water recycling in there. I guess the possibilities of haunting is pretty high after all those folks died in the cryo chambers but still.

I think if haunting would be an issue in the vault it would be an issue throughout the commonwealth, quite a lot of death out there!!

...or Fort Hagen.

Would be a nice Feature to retake some Dungeons for making a Settlement. Like in the Walking Dead with the Prison. Those Buildings like the Vaults would be the best Settlements, and the best Solution against Radiation.

If you have the pc version, then you can spawn a workshop anywhere with console commands. Found this on Nexus Mods, but haven't tested it to see if it works.

player.placeatme c1aeb to spawn the workshop

tgm to activate god mode which is required to get into the settlement menu

Considering all the crazy experiments that the Institute runs, I wonder if they have tested the effect of radiation and FEV on the human soul to see if it is possible to create ghosts.

You can spawn a Workstation but there is a Parameter missing like you need to kill some Monster in that Area. But this Workstation has no defined Area.

That is what the tgm code is for.

Also you need to hold v to get into the settlement window instead of using the workshop. Tested it for Vault 111 and it worked fine. Just need to click on some of the debris and type disable to clean up the area. You can even get rid of the cryopods and end up with some frosted npcs that do nothing. So it is possible to save your character's spouse as long as you don't mind that they don't move or talk and spent too much time in a freezer.

Interior areas have the outside walls as the defined area while exterior areas has an invisible defined area. If you keep on moving away from the Workshop, then you will eventually get the message, "Outside Buildable Area. Workshop Auto Exit in 5 seconds." Tried Fort Hagen and it worked fine for me.

Totally agreed.

I hope they come up with some improvements to the settlement system to justify the design decision that kept us from living in sane places with fusion core power generators, solid roofs and locking doors, like any sensible raider already does.

Unless the "defend settlement X" events get significantly more involved and rewarding, I don't see any point to forcing us to live in places that are easy to attack. Vault 111 would be a no-brainer. Or hundreds of other places that don't leak or leave your whole group sleeping rough in radstorms like some sort of backwoods clan of mental defectives. We can build fusion generators from scrap, ffs...we should be clever enough to come in out of the rain. If not, there needs to be a gameplay benefit to balance out the stupidity of the characters.

God please no! The last thing we need is Oblivion style Wraiths that cut you down in seconds and cause radiation sickness and cannot be killed by physical means. At least there is a lot of sliver forks and fancy hair brushes we can load into the junk-jet. Future dlc? I think yes!

Because settlement already have a deal with the bad guys to get attacked just so they can trouble you when you're in the other corner of the map.

Yeah...you know, because my character is emotionally dead and disconnected enough inside to live where

Spoiler
his wife was gunned down in cold blood right in front of him and where he was left to rot for 200 years as a Popsicle by a twisted organization

Nothing that can't be fixed by throwing some nifty shower curtains over the top of the spouse's corpse box to give the place a little more cheer.

Also - free freezers :) Could probably make a small wasteland fortune being the only one who knows how to make icecream.
