Randomly freezeing

Post » Fri Jun 25, 2010 10:49 pm

Hi, I have a problem with F3 randomly freeze's when I try to open up a box of some sort or try to pick something up from the ground. I don't happen very often but it's extremly annoying when you have played for about 30 min and forget to quicksave and have to do it all over again. It's the F3 game of the year for pc that im playing and so far I have just installed F3 not the exspansion packs. And I have cleared it on ps3 but never got this problem. The hardware shouldn't be a problem cause when I installed it the recommended graphics wrere Ultra High :P.

I use:

Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Hard Drive: 490 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100618-1621)

Hope it helps I just pasted it in from xfire rig info ^^. Let me know if it's anything else I need to post.

You have a CPU with 4 threads, try the quadcore fix.
Open up the .ini file located in My Documents>My Games>Fallout 3. *Do not alter the one in the actual game directory labeled Fallout_Default_ini*
In the FALLOUT.ini find the line

bUseThreadedAI=0
change the 0 to a 1

then below it add the line

iNumHWThreads=2

Late answer :P. I just want to say thanks for the help and it worked! I only had to change it to play throu "windows xp windows pack 3", or whatever it was. It acctually paused/froze when I clicked the right mousebutton to aim when I played with Windows 7.. so after a quick change, it works perfectly! Thanks again :)
