A real shame. I thought he had his best work still ahead of him.

wow... Another surprise! He had so many memorable roles! Alexander Dane in http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0177789/ had to be one of my favorite roles he played. "By Grabthar's hammer!"

I will miss him...

I just watched that movie a few days ago. I watch it often. I think it's one of the best comedy films of the past twenty years. He was an extremely talented actor who brought something very special to every role I ever saw him in. This is truly shaping up to be a sad year.

I didn't know this! This news really saddens me. I've been collecting Boulez recordings for years on Deutsche Grammophon and other labels, on vinyl records and cassette tape and CDs. I couldn't guess how many hours I've spent listening to Le marteau sans ma?tre and RĂ©pons. Boulez and Stochausen were two of my favorite 20th Century composers.

I had the privilege of seeing him conduct sections of Pli selon pli with the New York Philharmonic in the seventies. He was usually thought of as a "cold" conductor but not that night. That night the performace was full of fire.

I will surely miss him greatly.

He'll be missed. Loved him in Dogma and Truly, Madly, Deeply. He (usually) managed to be pretty good even when the film was bad.

I think I first noticed him in Dogma, and after that it was always a plus to see him in any role. He was like a guarantee that, worst case, I would enjoy at least one thing in the movie. Great actor.

So many great and talented people are dying in fast repetition..... I feel I'm becoming numb to it and I feel so guilty for feeling that way. I liked his roles because he always seemed to make them his own. I only hope he has a towel with him when he's laid to rest.

Damn.. I didn't even know he was ill. I'm quite honestly baffled by this.. he's one whose time I didn't expect to be coming to an end. Aside from Die Hard and Harry Potter, I've seen glimpses of him in other movies but I was never too familiar with them. As a big Harry Potter fan, he became a recognizable figure to me and I always thought of him as a cool guy.. my mom said she always loved him too, and I'm sure my aunt on her side will be hit by this too.

I don't know what else to really say. Good bye Severus :(.
