Free Online Play On Consoles?

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 2:55 pm

So... I think we know that playing games online for free is common for PC but not-so for consoles (at least, not anymore due to PSN's changes of it) but I've found at least one exception to the rule so been wanting to ask... Does anybody else know any other exceptions on the consoles? (The one I know of is if you play Halo: Reach on the Xbox One, online play is free. I'm playing it right now and I don't have gold membership!).

Whoa, really? Damn, I'll have to dig up Reach and give that a try now. I'm guessing it's some sort of emulation bug or something (unless it is intentional).

Pretty much any online game that is F2P doesnt require a PS+ subscription. Two big names off the top of my head are Planetside 2 and DCUO.

You dont need any PS+ sub to play online with a PS3. It is still free. Though some games might require a sub to that game.

If I got this right I bought a "free game" off of PSN, DoA 5: Last round. It's basically a skeleton of the actual game BUT you can fully unlock it at anytime. I did that cause for some reason (although I know what the actual reason is and it exceptionally stupid) Xtream Beach 3 won't be coming over to the US.
