AI directions

For me the major flaw to this series is the AI:

They lack emotion.

However news shows that emotion should be coming, I hope they mean in the way of realtionships.

Basically there are two key relationships:
-Player to NPC
-NPC to NPC

"-Player to NPC" is perfectly suitable as it is now(if only disposition was a wee bit more dynamic).
But the latter is irreverent, if a character is killed in some random feat of anger, by whomever, the killed character's family should be affected.

If it were to happen in real life, who would simply go, "All well he is dead, better get back to reading my book." NO ONE! If Bethesda can just craft this relationship factor into the game I think we all agree that the game will be better.

Let's hope they do not fall into the perverted curse of trying to appeal to the little perverts by making "Player to NPC" too in depth if you know what I mean.

What are your thoughts?

Bethesda developed a thing called "Radiant Story" that should fix this problem.

DIdn't the article say that if you kill someone, their family will hate you? This fact does at least prove that npcs have some sort of relationship

I have not read the article, and the known-feature list did not explain it very well.

this was said in the article, it was talking about the radiant story/quest thing. he said you can kill a shop keeper and a family member will take over the shop but will likely despise you or somethign. also if you kill a quest giver, you may be able to get the quest again from one of their family members if it was something they really needed, but they will likely give you a lesser reward.

so keep your fingers crossed and it may be exactly what you want it to be :tops:

They've fixed this. Read the GI article if you get the chance.

From the barely readable text on the scans, there were also something about if you dropped your loot, people might come asking you if you dropped it, or two guys fighting over who has the right to take it. I mean - LOL! Sounds awesome to me :)
