Nords vs Redguards who are the better warriors

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 9:27 pm

I thought it is Redguards who are the better warriors than Nords because it was said in multiple games that the Nords are talented warriors or famous for their prowess while the Redguards are outright most talented. They even have a pretty good record in battles being the only race that was never truly defeated and all.

So what do you guys think? Redguards or Nords are better warriors?

I've said it in another one of these threads before. A Nord can throw the strongest punch, a Redguard actually knows how to punch, but an Orc is able to take it.

Seriously though, no one. Individual temperament, style, upbringing, experience, and ability play too great a role to ever actually make a concrete call on anything, especially when talking on a individual level. A Bosmer can beat out both of them, if they have the right stuff to do it. So really, no one.

Strictly speaking, not true, and you could actually apply that to the Nord's better. The Ra'Gada have this terrible tendency at going after one another over foreign threats most of the time, and Hammerfell and High Rock both outright lost territory to Skyrim during the War of Bend'r-Mahk. The only time the Nordic power tends to wane is when a succession crisis appears, which the regression of the Nordic empire and the entire Stormcloak Rebellion issue can attest to. Still, that has nothing really to do with who has the best warriors, and there's never going to be a real clear cut answer on it either way.

Well, I'd say that Nords, Redguards, and Orcs are the three strongest warriors in all of Tamriel- maybe other than immortals like Dremora perhaps. I'd say they're all about equally as strong just not in the exact same way. And Khajiit are probably the best at unarmored unarmored combat, though when people say "Warriors" they generally mean armor, and melee weapon.

If we're not focusing on things like training, and just raw, natural, untrained power, and focusing more on averages than exceptional individuals I'd compare the playable races of Tamriel like this.

Best mages: Bretons, Altmer.

Best warriors: Orcs, Redguards, Nords.

Most well rounded: Dumner. Consequently Dumner probably make the best Spellswords/Battlemages things like that as well.

Most socially influential: Imperials.

Most deadly in combat without weapons or armor: Khajiit.

Sneakiest: Bosmer/Khajiit.

Best Archers: Bosmer.

I find myself having a hard time to agree with this on an entirety. I agree with some things but your assertions on the khajiit are a little odd, if not a bit off. Khajiit gained their prowess as warriors against other warriors who would of used swords, although itd be an equal fight to pit similarly trained redguards against khajiit, the khajiit will do well enough if you handed them a sword or not, due to their prowess and their claws. Reduards not so much. Ontop of that, it depends entirely on what Khajiit youre throwing into this metaphorical "ring". Obviously an Alfiq isnt going to be able to hold its own in direct combat using a sword. But being supposedly better with magic, it would do better in that regard against another mage of a different race. If I HAD to define races into their categories on nothing else but racial attributes (which is redundant because its more based off personal traits than anything) I would put the races as follows:

Best Mages: Altmer, Breton

Best Warriors: Orsimer, Redguards, Nords,

Most well rounded: Dunmer, Imperial (simply because I dont see social status as a prowess unique to a race) Argonians (if only because they dont have a preset class that you think of when you think of an Argonian)

Best Thieves: Bosmer

Khajiit would be divided between them all depending on the breed of khajiit. (Suthay most likely being better as a thief, Cathay-Raht as a warrior, Dagi as a Mage, etc..)

But ultimately I find pairing them into groups like that redundant, simply because prowess isnt based off racial qualities, and more along the lines of individual qualities.

I've decided once and for all that the Redguards were the best warriors. The others are just brutes. :P

As much as I love and identify with the Nords, I have to agree that Redguards are the "best warriors" individually. Their warrior culture seems to have a propensity toward control, form, and skill, where the Nords seem to prefer brute force and harsh environmental adaption.

The thing is, Skyrim's primary export seems to be soldiers. From a totally biased and off the top of my head projection, I would see Redguards fielding a small force of quality troops, and Nords fielding a large army composed of moderately well trained bar brawlers.

Depends on the individual and what training they received.
