No option to buy children's room in Proudspire Manor

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 2:39 pm

I've googled this and checked the forum, but all I've found is people saying they have purchased the children's room, but it didn't appear.

This isn't the case.

I bought the house from Falk, and all the room additions were there EXCEPT the children's room.

I purchased Honeyside, and the children's room was available there, but it still isn't available in Proudspire.

Is there a console command to trigger a quest stage, or something to make the option to buy the children's room in Proudspire appear?

Ssenkrad, I think your problem is that there is no Proudspire Manor in Oblivion. I've asked a moderator to move this to the proper forum. It's obvious that your love of the Halfling's leaf has clearly slowed your mind. :P

Ssenkrad, do you have the unofficial Hearthfire patch installed? I *think* that was one of the issues fixed by that patch. Oh, and did you actually buy all the house upgrades including the alchemy lab? You have to have bought the lab and then you get an option to change it into a child's room.

What platform are you on? If on PC, which Unofficial Patches do you have?

So on this playthrough I finally got around to buying/furnishing Proudspire. Falk doesn't have the option to change the Alchemy lab to the children's bedroom for me either, not that I want it - I don't; I was simply checking because of this thread.

As per your question MadCat: PC, and I have all three DLCs and USLEEP. The other "vanilla" homes have the children's bedroom option available.

Proudspire's kiddie room is not a room replacement, but an expansion. The wall to the left of you when facing the master bedroom from outside it is opened, and the room is in there.

Is there not an option at the workbench to build children's beds and chests in the sleeping area extension of the house?

But there's no option anywhere to do that. There was a couple of playthroughs back, because I accidentally clicked it while buying upgrades, and had to revert to a previous save. Now, I might have figured it out though: I re-added for this playthrough my mods that tweak the player houses. They're all from before Hearthfire. So that might be it. And that's fine, I don't DO kids.

Proudspire's not one of the BYOH houses.

There are no workbenches in the vanilla houses, even with any Hearthfire expansions. The workbench system only exists in the three Hearthfire estates.

But no, because the other vanilla player houses all still have the children's room options. Maybe I updated the other mods, and not Proudspire's. I'll have to check. And no, that's not it - I did update this mod as well, and the Hearthfire options should be available. But, not.

Sorry, may bad. I was thinking Proudspire was from Hearthfire for some reason.

Yeah, I have all the unofficial patches. The children's room in Proudspire doesn't replace anything, it is on the upper floor next to the master bedroom.

PC, and all of them.

Do you have any mods that affect Proudspire besides the Unofficail patch(es)?

No, nor any that directly affect Hearthfires.

That was my first reaction too. I checked my mods.

GMTA.

The thing is, I've purchased the children's room in Proudspire before this play thru. This is the first time this has happened.

My thought is that a quest stage has failed to fire. I'm hopeing there is a "setstage" console command I can use to make the option available.

I've found it. :celebration:

Here is the fix in case someone else encounters this.

I opened TES5Edit and looked at the dialog records for Falk related to furnishing Proudspire.

The record for purchasing the rooms had no conflicts, only Skyrim.esm and Hearthfires.esm showed up.

But the topic:

DecorateSolitudeElse [DIAL:000E24D3]

Hearthfires.esm over rides Skyrim.esm to add the option to buy the children's room:

DecorateSolitudeChildBedroom "Children's bedroom. ( gold)" [DIAL:08003D4B]

I looked at [DIAL:08003D4B] and Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp was over riding Hearthfires.esm's entry to buy the children's room (Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp was omitting the option to buy the children's room.)

I moved Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp above Hearthfires.esm in my load order, and now the option shows up.

Two things:

1) Is this a bug in Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp? Why is it over riding that dialog?

2) I thought the game loaded all the .esm files first, then the .esp files. But when I moved Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp above Hearthfires.esm, the error was corrected. What is the rule for loading .esp files before .esm files?

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions people!

I appreciate it.

Are you using LOOT to sort load order? I have discovered that it mostly does well, but doesn't always load the unofficial patches correctly for everyone. When I sort mine after adding a new mod, I have to manually put the unofficials back in correct order to avoid CTDs.

(I know there are ways to do 'priority' and all that in LOOT, but I don't know how to do that yet)

No, I sort my mods manually.

I have written quite a few small "tinker" mods that need to fall in a specific order, and I also use quite a few mods that are pretty low profile (they aren't included in mainstream lists).

If I ran something like LOOT or BOSS to sort my load order, I'd have to spend an hour correcting the mistakes.

It's easier for me to just do it myself.

Obviously, problems do arise, but I'm sure people sorting their load order with whiz-bang technology run into problems too.

I'm old school like that...

Is the Unofficial patch .esp one of those that has an .esm record in the header? LOOT loads it after the DLCs but ahead of a couple of other .esms I have.... And except for that Falk dialogue issue, I don't have any problems with where it loads (and since I don't want kids' bedrooms, I won't worry about moving it....)

I don't know enough not to use the technology, but I know it's not foolproof. Every time I use it to sort when I add a new mod, I have 4 that I have to manually place differently or I have issues. Cool that you can do it yourself! :)

I know that BOSS had the ability to customize the mod order by ordering it to place a mod before/after another, which then overrides the master list. I THINK that LOOT does so, but I've not tinkered enough with it to say if that is so (or how).

LOOT has a "priority" system, yes. I don't use it because I really only have 4 of around 80 mods that need specific placement before/after something that LOOT doesn't seem to get right. So I sort with LOOT when I add a mod, and then move those weird ones manually. Easy enough....

Thats where its supposed to be, if you used LOOT it would have sorted that for you.

The newer USLEEP patch needs to go below Skyrim+DLC esm's so that might be a simpler option for you to grasp.

Yes it does.
