Yes, I have tried the fix in the sticky. I have installed the codecs. I've read you're supposed to change the standard for sound files to Windows Media Player but I can't find WMP on my WIndows 10 computer.

I've searched far and wide for a solution to it but all I've found is the same answer as in the sticky.

The game installed just fine and runs just fine. After a few minutes the game stops recognizing any input from the mouse and keyboard. The game keeps running and I can't act or even pause the game with ESC. I have tried runnign in compability modes and run it as an admin and it still stops. I've tried installing the latest patches and unofficial patches and I still get the problem.

I've read something about it not liking controllers and such being plugged in so I'm going to try to unplug the wireless thing for Xbox controllers and try again. I have also set bUse Joystick=0 in the .ini file.

Any other advice?

SInce it was a sound problem i read somewhere someone had turned all sounds off in the .ini file. I tried that and it worked. I played like that for a while but it was very boring and for some reason the timer onconverations with NPCs are based on the sounds files plahyed which mwans I couldn't read anything since it went by to quick.

This made me try turning the sound effects on and keep the music off. This fixed the problem for me. I can now play with sounds but without the music.

In Windows 10, use the search box and type: Windows Media Player. Click the 'Desktop App' listing and it will install the application (not configured by default). If installed you can find it, in: Start Menu >> Programs >> Windows Accessories.

Don't know if it will help your issue with Oblivion.
