Ebony Warrior theories

Post » Wed Jan 20, 2016 3:33 am

I am here, on the curious subject of the famous, yet unknown Ebony Warrior.

Now, this IS in the spoilers category, so read at your own risk, if you have never before heard of the Ebony Warrior, and don't want anything spoiled about it/him/her, then please leave this topic immediately, as I don't want to ruin anything for you. And please don't look it up, as if you keep playing your playthrough, you will at some point find him 100% NO MATTER WHAT so trust me and don't spoil it for yourself like I did. It would be much better to have an authentic experience in meeting the Ebony Warrior.

So. back to the 'knowers'

The Ebony Warrior is shrouded in, well, nothing. I would say mystery, but that's just it. There is nothing. On him. No stories. No books. No dialogue regarding him, other than his own. No name. No information. No clues, whatsoever.

He is a Redguard, taller than any other NPC in the game.

He just approaches you in any town after level 80, and explains to you that he has done all that he can be done, conquered all foes, and dreams of Sovngarde. Some believe he is Ebon-Arm, betrayed by Sheogorath, and placed in human form. In DaggerFall, there is a book on Ebon-Arm, and in HammerFell, he is revered much as Talos is in Skyrim. The book in DaggerFall, (I don't know the name) has dialogue in which they say things like "Praise Ebon-Arm) and whatnot again, much like Talos. However, the book is does not exist in Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim. However, it does reappear in Elder Scrolls Online. However, even more mysteriously, they REMOVED all mention of Ebon-Arm. All dialogue and reference is just.. gone. Completely. If you would like more information on this theory, I got most of it from MrRhexx on YouTube, if you would like to see for yourself, the video is called "The Truth About the Ebony Warrior.

However, my theory differs. It is also shared by many people

I believe that he is meant to be just like you. An adventurer. A warrior. That has conquered all. He has done anything and everything that there is to be done. He is tired of living and being the best. He wants there to be a warrior better, so that he can conclude his amountlessly successful, fulfilling life, and finally rest in Sovngarde. He is a Redguard, dreaming of Sovngarde, to insinuate that he is not just a mighty Nord Warrior, but an unexpected warrior. A different Warrior. A unique warrior. Perhaps, at such a high level, the producers assume you also have grown tired of lacking challenges, and facing along the odds, and present you with the Ultimate Challenge: Your doppelganger. Yourself. To give you one final challenge. One final task. A task to lay to rest this indescribably mighty warrior who has accomplished all that has faced him/her. Perhaps to make obvious to you the idea that you will never (again) face a foe with such immense strength, power, and will. To offer you closure for your character. To your character's life, and perhaps lay him/her to rest, as well.?

Everyone who knows about, thought about, or discussed the Ebony Warrior, please submit your own theories on the Ebony Warrior, who he is, why he approaches you, and where he comes from.

I'm eager to hear what you all think.

Thats exactly what he is, essentially he holds up a mirror to the Player.

As for him being Redguard I don't think theres any significance to attach to that other than they just went with a neutral race neither beast nor elf nor nationalist Nord nor elitist Imperial.

The funny about him is he really hasn't done everything there is to do because you were off doing it. I never payed him much attention other than to kill him and move on with my day. I figured him more just a generic boss type of character rather than one with any deep story behind him. I like your theory though.

It's hard to say, there's many more Daedric artifacts than what's available in skyrim, but without access to them, all you can do is dream. However, just in a general sense, if you've (in theory) collected every Daedric artifact you can, every Dragon Priest Mask, every unique or named weapon you could, cleared every location, fought every boss, acquired every Dragon Claw, helped everyone you could, collected every pokemon, then you really didn't leave much for anyone else to achieve other than just living in your giant shadow.
