Disenchanting muffle boots low level doesnt effect magnitude

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 3:10 pm

I just found a pair of " Steel Boots of Muffle" on level 14 with no ench. perks and Magicka attr. at 110.

I've done a extensive search and read posts on this from years ago that say low level doesnt effect but with this game being patched so many times I thought that I'd run it by you guys/gals first because this is a rare find and I dont want to waste it.

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the question. Enchanting perks, Magicka, skill level... none of that governs what you find in the game world.

The muffle effect from enchanted items you make will always be the same magnitude no matter what level you are. The Muffle enchantment will always be at a maximum value of 1.0, which is the equivalent of 100% or completely silent.

This holds true if you disenchant them. The effect will be applied to the new item at it's maximum of 1.0 no matter the size of the soul gem.

Enchanting another pair of boots, using a petty soul gem will yield the same magnitude as using a grand soul gem.

That is indeed correct. I had forgotten that the found enchantment is only at 50%. It's not until you learn the effect, that it becomes completely silent.

Wow......thanks SC.

I thought that the muffle enchant you give to items was only 50 % effective in quietening armour......like the muffle perk in the sneak skill tree. But it's a total silence effect then....like "Silence" in the sneak skill tree.

But then.....anything you use which is just found with the muffle enchantment really IS only 50 % effective. So to get total silence....you must first disenchant the found item, then freshly enchant something new with muffle.

Hope I understood that correctly.......well it's only taken four years to find that one out

Thanks again SC for your wisdom :)

I think petester is talking about the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Predator and these boots have an unique enchantment which no other enchanted item has at least in vanilla.

Well uesp says that most generic items with muffle are .5 except for this list that they gave also I just tried to sneak up on a Thalmor patrol of 3 mages and could'nt do it with 2 sneak first tier perks and couldn't get withen 20ft of them with leather armor, boots, iron helmut and steel gloves.

So maybe mine are the .5 generic ones although that still kinda svcks because its like they are useless but you are absolutely correct I disenchanted the steel ones and enchanted leather ones.
