Ballistic Weave on Trilby Hat

Post » Thu Jan 21, 2016 7:56 am

Hello, I was just wondering if the Ballistic Weave upgrades that you receive, after progression with a particular faction, are supposed to apply on the Trilby Hat, and 3 other hats that I know of? It seems a little OP to me, and the fact that it's only particular hats makes me thing there's just something missing in the code for all 4 of those hats. Anyone know?

Thanks!

I've never seen the hats come up as an item I can modify in workbench mode. Helmets, yes. Hats... no?

Yes, there are several hats that you can modify with the ballistic weave. It's intended. It's also incredibly unrealistically overpowered, but there's a ton of overpowered stuff in this game.

Damn, I thought this upgrade would be immensely awesome, but what's the point if it's basically god mode. Oh well, I'm not wearing the hat, just the Army Fatigues with armor. I guess I'll find out if there's anything challenging afterwards. I play very hard already, maybe I'll try Survival.

I wouldn't really call it 'god mode.' You can put ballistic weave on the fatigues and not armor a hat. If you want an armored hat that isn't quite THAT armored, you can simply put a lower rank version of the ballistic weave on it.

Well I'm particularly weird when I play games, as soon as the challenge is gone, I start enjoying it less, and less. I'm keeping on the destroyer helmet for the moment because of the INT boost. If I chose the hat, it would have to be armored all the way, or none at all. But is there anything that will still be a challenge with that much armor on? The hat I won't wear because other than the defense rating, it only increases one stat. But armor I need for the mods, I just won't use a hat for now, I'm playing on survival from now on, and if I feel challenged at some point, I will contemplate using a hat.

Why can't you just use a lesser variant of the armor? If you think it's overpowered there is a simple solution right in front of you to make it armored, but not quite so powerful.

Because it bothers me, now if I play on survival without using it, or using a lower variation of it when I've got all the perks to max it, it won't feel like a real challenge because I'm aware that I've had to handicap myself. If I use it and have no troubles whatsoever, then I will feel like it's so easy because I'm using an exploit. It just aggravates me a little, 110 dmg and energy resistance on a hat is absolutely nuts. I'm done playing for the night, but tomorrow I'll try to get on and progress further into the glowing sea, maybe some enemies will really be tough without the hat. I just don't think it feels right, it's not reasonable that a hat matches the defense of your full body clothes.

The damage/energy resistance of the Mk I armor is 30/30, which is significantly less overpowered than the Mk V. It seems to me that this is a solution to your problem, but suit yourself.
