I love Fallout 4

Post » Thu Jan 21, 2016 6:36 am

I did not think I would like this game but I am glad I picked it up and started playing it. I've been having so much fun with the game. I really enjoy it and I'm super excited about upcoming DLCs.

My favorite thing to do is adventure out into the world looting and killing and then returning to my home base (which is currently the Castle) and building.

why so many people love the castle? I didn't return to that place after the mirelurk queen.

You can easily fix the holes in the castle wall with the cement floor option in the wood building section.

There's an

Spoiler
underground section of tunnels you can dart into when radiation storms hit and not take any radiation damage

It is easy to defend.

It has working sinks.

It has plenty of space to put 20+ beds for settlers.

Spoiler
And you can build huge ballistic weapons and blow stuff up with them

It's like having a smaller version of Diamond City.

Edit to add that it also already comes equipped with a lot of electrical wiring throughout the castle so you can just build a couple generators and get it all working. Plus it already has a large water purifier and there's plenty of spaces to place as many water purifiers as you want. With all the dirt areas for crops, what's not to love about the Castle? It only has one drawback, and that is the minuteman radio.

Wow, I have to start using it then, I set my main base at sunshine tidings because it had no relation with the minutemen and it came with a cool robot. I don't know why I ignored such a place for so long.

It's cool I guess. But I expected the best from a Fallout game.

FO4 is fantastic. I am not playing any other games at all. Won't be for quite a while. I won't download any DLC for quite a while, either, until I feel like I have exhausted the game as is. Loving every spare minute I can reasonably take. I particularly love being able to fast travel right into my bedroom. Been hoping for this for ages.

I am closer than ever before to wanting to buy a PC. At this point, I am going to hope that the seeds planted at E3 bear fruit, and mods come to xbox one.

I for one, would love to experience what you have churning around in your creative grey matter. Within limits ;)

It's true what you say about the 100 hour mark but that doesn't apply to Bethesda games where people are actively playing Morrowind for over a decade and each forum section has daily activity. Their games have always been able to keep people playing 100s-1000s of hours and they're losing that lasting quality with each installment by trying to mimic other titles in an attempt to draw in more customers. I can't say I blame them from a business perspective but the new directions are turning away from the great formula of creating who I want and playing them how I want.

ha yeah I don't mean to rant, I'm just a fan of Bethesdas style and hate to see them change it to the point that it doesn't feel like a Bethesda RPG any more.

ha true, I understand how it sounds but I meant that they changed up a few things that bothered me in the older games...namely improving the gunplay, allowing aim down sights, and not leaning so heavy on VATS. I didn't like having to use VATS all the damn time, the way it's handled now as an optional thing is a major improvement imo.

Yeah, agreed, those things are quite decent improvements. Especially the gunplay part! Although any idea if you can disable hit markers? I hate those things.

That's how I've often felt for years on the TES boards but have come the except people are often REALLY different ( or maybe one of us is crazy) Personally I have such a backlog of plans and quests and level up to dos with all my characters, I don't think I'll ever get to "nothing to do".

You know you are playing too much Fallout 4 when you start dreaming about shooting bad guys with laser guns.

I've never liked a fallout game more than an elder scrolls game until now. For me, at the moment, it's perfect...and I actually like the spoken dialogue as well.

A thousand thanks fellow wanderer.

You have gained Karma!!

Yeah I don't worry about the complainers per se, even though they can wind me up from time to time. I don't let it ruin my day in the Commonwealth!

That's where I am. every time I think I've explored most of the map I realize that I haven't even explored the majority of places I have discovered. Going from thinking that I was nearly finished with the game to thinking I've still got 100+ hours to go (without any Mods or DLC!!).

So I think most people saying there isn't anything to do maybe haven't played Fallout before, it's not as easy to get the most out of Fallout if you don't know what you are doing, haven't developed a playstyle already, features can be a bit confusing at first for some I suppose.

I think saying that there is 'nothing to do' is simply misguided.
