I don't think you can re romance if you fail. That is why I save it right when they give me the choice to flirt or romance and keep loading till i succeed lol.

Yeah, if you fail the romance attempt, you're in the permenate friend zone.

Yep, when you hear "I just want to be friends" that pretty much throws ice on romance.

You can still romance her, but the check will just get harder when it comes to the final option. Sometimes they'll bring it up again if you continue to be on their good side, so yeah, you can keep trying if you fail.

However, there are other companions you can max out friendship when you also have "romance" as an option. If you choose just to be best friends, later they will ask you again to romance them. I only romance Cait, Piper and Curie. Rest are BFF

Preston, MacCready and Piper keep bringing up their last conversation when I bump into them. It's annoying, but I can see why some people may want the option of romancing them after second thoughts. For some reason Curie doesn't - maybe our affinity dropped a little somewhere along the line. I romanced Cait, and haven't gotten the max affinity with the other options yet.
