I like bass in music but not that much. Sometimes i can hear the thump thump when the vehicle is far away like i say like 2-3 miles away.

It depends on city/town/local ordinance. And the amount of zoning revenue.

Where I live the HOA doesn't tolerate it. Of course it helps to have a State Trooper, Sheriff's Deputy and City cop on the HOA. :hehe:

Indeed. City hall (or your juristictions equivalent) or a police "non emergency information line" will have the answers you seek.

I used to live with a flatmate who got irritated at the noise the shop downstairs made at closing time (midnight) so they sent around folks with soundmeters, with my flatmate hoping that the Db level would be over the local limit.

if it was my way, any time that happens would be disturbing the peace because i can feel the thump throughout my body

but from my understanding its only at night

It depends on your neighborhood and the local codes. Where I live, between 10pm and 7am noises must be kept low (can't remember the exact db level, but it was a kin to a bird). If someone is constantly making noise late at night in your area, research the local ordinances and call the police if it bothers you.

Have to agree with others that it's a matter of local code enforcement for your county. If someone is running their speakers loud then ya I would report it. I would say that at 1:00 am to like 6:00 am is generally a peaceful rest period time for any area unless it's a holiday which allows for fireworks and loud noises.

I know its past 11pm here that it is considered a public disturbance. Not sure what time it isn't, but I would imagine around 7am. Not that I hate the people partying, but it's so [censored] loud. We have my little cousins here who need to start getting up earlier to be ready for school. When they are playing the loud music all night it keeps them up and throws us all off. Then again it depends on how loud they play it, if I can only vaguely here it I should be good. Unfortunately that's rarely and we often have to call the local cops to get people to turn it down a notch. Thankfully we don't have too much problems like that here, it is generally quiet. Or it might be a one of thing for the beginning/end of summer and that's the end of it.

I'd say take it up with them yourself. Plant explosives where they drive by, with a warning sign telling them to turn down their music or death will occur. You may have to blow one or two up before they get the message.

When the bass is so damn loud it causes the windowpanes to break in houses that these inconsiderate twits pass.
We've had to replace three panes this year alone, becasue some people just can't get it through their thick heads, that while they enjoy their earwax shaken loose when driving, others don't.

In my country, its easier to pin them for health and safety than it is for any civil misdemeanor. Tell the council that there's a risk of burst eardrums, and the jobbing parkas from the Town Hall would be down in hours confiscating "sound equipment". Another good tactic is if you can somehow link it to religion.

Ueah, I'm very jaded when it comes to the police.

In my area, there was an a**hole who drove around the neighborhood every morning at 2:00AM playing that crap and waking up everybody within 3 miles (I have friends that far away, and they woke up to it). We called the cops and they did nothing, even though it was "disturbing the peace". So I stayed up one night and waited for this bastard. I followed him back to his house, took down the license plate number, vehicle description and address and gave it to the police. When they still did nothing, I put that information on flyers and posted them all over the neighborhood. Within 24 hours, the problem was solved. Somebody (or a group of somebodies) slashed the idiot's tires, broke all of the windows in his car, ripped out his sub woofers, smashed them to bits and sprinkled them all over his yard. Now we can all sleep through the night without worrying about a mobile earthquake waking us up. :snoring:

Explosives are too noisy. But if you sniped his tires...

Awesome! Poor guy though. All that money down the drain. Well, well. If you're irresponsible then someone's gonna do something. Not necessarily a GOOD thing

Now, don't be silly. Explosives would cost a fortune. Now, your common man can make do with much cheaper variants of filling bottles with gasoline, rag 'em and lighting them up real nice. Or skip the bottle, and go for the gas tank on the car. Oh, fun. ^_^

Still, dunno about if cops/ The Law can do much about cars. Noisy neighbours, maybe, unless you happen to live in this soddin' country where every landlord or whatnot is too scared of being sued to take any action whatsoever.
