Any successfully recruit the level 4 vendors and have them produce legendary items at the right type of kiosk?

i think so?, i assigned the vault tec rep guy to a level 2 general items store (junk) and he has a legendary item for sale

I had the Vault Tech representative produce one piece of Legendary armor. Otherwise he just provides Salvage. However, his Salvage is MUCH, MUCH better than the standard Salvage vendors, allowing you to get your hands on a lot of rare materials quickly (think Military Grade Duct Tape, just about everything with Nuclear Materials). The Clothing vendor functioned much the same, better quality than the standard vendor items, and lots and lots of things that can take Ballistic Weave.

vault tech guy seems to be the only one that works. Every other one has bugged out on me in one way or another.

Anne (the clothier) hasn't sold me any Legendary items, and her stock is somewhat lacking.

Vault-Tec guy works though. I hate having to listen to his whole speech EVERY TIME before I trade with him though

I've gotten Anne and vaulty man. The rest won't even show up at sanctuary hills.

I sent Trader Rylee to Red Rocket, and she disappeared. She counted towards it's population total for a few days, but wasn't ever there, and eventually the population there went back to zero.

It's bugged. She gets relocated to some test cell for some reason.

I found Scribe and sent him to Starlight drive where my primary base of operation is located. He has never showed up since and its been about 8 hours of gameplay since then. A population count shows that I am short one person at that settlement. I have no idea where he is now or how to find him. I have searched every road leading to the starlight from where I found him and even searched the wilderness in between all of that. He is just totally gone from the game world for me even though he is showing up on the population counter at starlight. Its really a shame and I hope they can fix it without me having to restart the entire game.

Vault tech dude and anne work fine(although like was mentioned,annes inventory is seriously lacking)but rylee also disappears on me and the girl from vault 81(the sister to the druggy) bugs out and she won't go anywhere.Heard you could hire holt but i haven't been able to get any quest or dialogue with him to send him anywhere.

I have started another thread asking if anyone has actually employed Smiling Larry. Apparently no-one has.

I haven't tried Anne yet, but it sounds like Anne and Vault-Tech guy are the only ones that I have ever heard of people actually employing them as vendors.

I think it's because both the vault tech rep and Anne Hargraves are at specific locations while the others are all random encounters (as far as I'm aware) I too have not managed to successfully employ them even though I've tried Smiling Larry, Doc Anderson, Trader Riley and Ron Staples.

Got the Scribe to show up at Sanctuary after I recruited him - found him, recruited, then fast traveled back to sanctuary. Initially wasnt there when i arrived, but sleeping 1 hr has him show up.


Assigned to armor emporium and bought all the legendary armor he had (3 poeces). But then he disappeared. After leaving Samctuary and coming back, Scribe was nowhere to be found, build mode says armor booth still assigned and population counts him, but he's gone and stayed gone.


My population is permanently increased by 1 it seems and he hasnt shown back. Annoying bug.

Currently have Vault Tec dude, Anne and Rylee employed; met the Doc early on, before I could recruit, never seen since, 300ish hours in.

Haven't been to Vault 81 for Holt yet, and have never encountered Staples, Larry or the Scribe, though I periodically check a couple of their possible spawn points.

What worked for me getting Rylee was waiting for her to walk outside after you witness her argument at a certain location,, then speak to her. No problem joining, was at Sanctuary the next day.
