changing the gender didn't make much of a difference from my perspective. Dialog lines carry the same tone and content, to the point that it feels the only difference is the gender voice. The fact that you are a woman instead of a man is not reflected in the npc reaction or the way they talk to you at all, for the little I have played. Probably the script is unique and then they mirrored the lines for the male and female voice, nothing else. The sarcastic option is also a bit stupid, just being a jerk for the sake of it, I am not motivated. Using the extended dialog mod, is even a worst experience this time around as you are able to read what you are going the say and most of the time the options are uninteresting with something along the lines of (yes, yes, sarcastic, no) all mutually exclusive that lead to the same results. Even same rewards are dished out regards of you being nice to them or not. Every interaction with an npc seems to be a tunnel with few exceptions thankfully (I remember the early diner with the mom and chem addicted son). To counter with an example, my favorite npc in FONV Chief Hanlon, has so many lines of dialogue (http://fallout.gamepedia.com/Hanlon%27s_dialogue?cookieSetup=true) that turns his interaction into a mini story, a pleasure to stop by for few minutes to hear what he has to say and feel invested in the overall narrative even more.
Not using any crafting perk was my second run mandate, unfortunately what it changes is the difficulty, you stay behind with the weapon and armour progression. I admit I haven't played much to make a fair judgment in this regard.
