Fuel based rides........

Post » Fri Jan 22, 2016 2:05 am

Who else want rides (preferably fuel based) in this game?

I don't like the concept of Fast Travelling because loading screens break my immersion in the game world. I'ld rather ride a two wheeler to my intended destination. Who else is with me?

I know in Skyrim many people had not so good experience with the mounts , including myself, but in Fallout 4 I definitely want to be able to build makeshift rides for myself and ride them to far off destinations instead of Fast Travelling through the places that I have already explored and cleared........... and I believe this time it'll work because of the fundamental differences in Skyrim and Fallout 4 world map.........

Please vote 'Yes' if you are in favour or 'No' if you rather use Fast Travel option............

Thanks :)

The world isn't designed for vehicles so I'll have to vote no.

What I wouldn't be opposed to as a replacement for the fast travel is a map system similar to Fallout 1 and 2. Instead of being between nodes it would just show the PCs journey back to an already discovered location from the map view. Of course it should also allow for travel interruptions like if the PC were travelling back, but ran into a group of ferals or a deathclaw.

Do you mean vehicles? "Fuel based ride" is a really odd expression.

The map is too small for vehicles.

Since 200 Years there is no one making Fuel anymore, and no Streets. I just saw some old Tanks but the Track was not connected to the Vehicle.

The map feels fairly large, currently. Vehicles would make it clear how small it really is.

Gotta vote no. It just ain't built for them. I'd love to see a Fallout game that is, though. Like with a massive map full of empty wasteland between points of interest. I'd like that better than the current small ones that are completely filled to the brim. It's called the wasteland for a reason.

The map is fun to travel around, although it feels small it's intense, I think a Vehicle would hurt it more than help it. But that's not the main reason I feel unsure about vehicles, in fact there are several parts in the game where they can be good aditions, but do you honestly see yourself traveling through the city area of the commonwealth? this area is full of long confusing corridors where you can barely navigate on your own, I can only imagine how difficult it would be to have a working vehicle in this area, unless it's really small. But still I wish you could have a driveable ventibird, sure you get one that lets you travel similar to the dragons in skyrim, but it's a totally different thing to actually drive it on your own at different heights. Maybe a vertibike that can hover you around, but even that sounds kinda stupid to me. If they are going to add vehicles I think they will have to design a whole area just for it, with its own highways.

Another option would be adding an upgrade to Power Armor legs that includes wheels like a tank, you would probably look similar to one of armored core tank robots, and move much faster.

The Commonwealth has the Institute so hoverbikes and hover boards are a possibility. The environment is too messed up for cars to work.

Just the equivalent of the motorcycle mod for FO3. Which is basically a complex fast travel system. Great stuff.

No in F4, as many have said the map is to small and cluttered.

They could the opposite for F5 though, a big and open map with events and places further apart from each other which could make a vehicle useful.

Consider they actually motivated why it wasn't in the game and have already tried real time wheeled vehicles in Skyrim and failed I doubt Beth gonna take a shot at it post launch.

I never use fast travel but I voted No, the game engine simply can't deal with vehicles that well, flying in a Vertibird makes that painfully clear.

I did start using the Van mod in New Vegas towards the end , which is basically an alternative fast travel like Morrowind's Silt Striders, but in FO4 I think I prefer to walk, there's just too much to see.

I like the fast travel vehicle mods for FO3 and New Vegas, so i would not mind having one. Mobile Truck Base for New Vegas is both a fast travel oppurtunity and a player home, love that. It would have to be limited to the largest settlements/cities and bases of various factions to work.

Yes. I really liked the horses in Skyrim, for immersion and protection on journeys. The riding animation was so much better than the running pose. In Fallout it could be in a DLC with moddable bikes and cars like dune buggies, fueled by fusion cores; you should be able to install heavy weapons on the cars. If vertibirds can be build and maintained, a crude car should not be impossible to exist. It would however be perfect if it came with a big new map to explore. There wouldn't be need for content all over the map. Could be a journey through the GS and farther where you better had a vehicle. Would be fun then to try it on foot instead. ;)

Well it seems very weird though, that there is all kinds of tech available in Fallout 4's post apocalyptic universe except ground rides.....doesn't make sense role-playing-wise either, also brotherhood has their war planes and helicopters and stuff.......so the ground rides also must exist.......

Also running through places that I have cleared out, for the 15th time doesn't really appeal to me personally and Fast Travelling just breaks the immersion, so I thought driving a car or riding a bike through game world would be a good way to get around in the second half of the game when you have already cleared a ton of marked and unmarked locations.........

They can make rides to be acquirable past level 30 or so and if someone still doesn't wanna use them so they can stay away from rides by not taking the quest for the acquiring the ability to ride, but the people who want to use rides can benefit from this feature.....

Vertibirds were stored and maintained in bunkers by the Enclave. The cars have been exposed to the elements and looters for 210 years now. If the game stuck to the original Lore all the cars would be gone by now, Fallout 2 had 99% of cars broken and with no useful parts or so rusted they were disintegrating and that was 46 years earlier in the games timeline.

The last part is sort of already in game, don't have to use the transport summons but you can if you want to.

with vertibirds in the game there is no need for a second redundant option.

taking a ride in a vertibird isn't piloting one and that option is BOS only.

I want to ride around on a motorcycle that eats my fusion cells. A motorcycle should be small enough to navigate a lot of areas of the commonwealth wastes without looking silly.

Also after the immersive horses mods I had a great experience with horses in skyrim.

That doesn't make it sound less fun. Alerts for enemies in a specific range and shielding and damage numbers so you have to keep it repaired and safe.

Nope, I'd still love it. Maybe with a lucky hit in the fusion cell slot in the rear and it can glow and then go boom like power armor.
