Vertibird Flybys

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 9:02 am

I'd like to make a Vertibird flyby, well more specifically I'd like it to fly over and then lose control and crash into the ground. How should this be done? This feels like a bit of an unknown zone for me so I'd like to see if anyone else knows much about them.

Not sure about the crash part, but if you search the Geck for "vertib" you will see several triggers and scripts that land vertibirds. You could start by looking at those.

They are controlled by animations, not 'directed' flights.
You play the animation group on the vertibird object to make it land, park and take off again.

You could play the landing animation, and with a timer, perhaps 'blow up' the vertibird at a particular time.

So correct me if I'm wrong, I could use one of the Vertibird FlyBys and explode it as it goes through a trigger along the path. This is based on the idea that the Vertibirds are destructable, if not I could make a special one or something.

I have blown up many vertibirds as they flew by. So I would assume they are destructable.
I am not sure if they will trigger anything in a trigger zone, but yeah, that would be one way to do it if they do cause the trigger zone to activate.

I've never tried this idea, but I just thought of it, perhaps you can have a trigger zone, where the vertibird flies through it and then that trigger zone has an explosion. Although the explosions may have to pe set up by the player entering an encounter zone, so I guess if this idea does work, you would need some pretty good timing between the vertibird and trigger zone (since generally vertibird flybys need a trigger zone to flyby.)

But Cool Idea, I would love o know how you figure this out.

EDIT: My bad I just read the post above mine which is kinda of the same, sorry.
