Lost Companions and Possible Solutions

This will probably apply more to the PS4/XB1 versions as PC players are able to do this with commands.

As we all know, the wasteland is a big place which makes keeping track of our companions difficult at times and sometimes they might even go missing. While I generally autosave prior to acquiring one and getting on my way once again after seeing them arrive within a settlement. I think a player shouldn't have to worry about companions not being where you want them to be (OCD like that  ).

Since Fallout 4 is a large game, naturally unintentional bugs will occur. While fixing them is one step, I definitely think we can go the extra mile and improve it a bit more.

My suggestion would be to add optional trackers to followers (or other important characters if need be). We can accomplish this by perhaps adding a Companion tab under Data within the Pipboy. This could possibly give us the option to track our current unlocked companions location (or approximate if within a location) by using quest like markers. We could further expand on this by optionally reseting those companions and having them return to their original location. To make the role-play seem more realistic in the process, some additional dialogue could be added to said companion (i.e. "Oh, I must've gotten lost! I figured you'd start looking for me right where we met!).

No more will one worry whether Preston made it to the Castle, if Dogmeat actually left after finding Fort Hagen, or if you told a companion to stay and forgot to get them to follow afterwards (or whatever else one comes up with).

Feel free to leave a comment on how to improve such a feature or whether you even think it's a decent idea or not. I personally think it would be a helpful feature.

Cheers!
