Receiver question on armor piercing

Post » Fri Jan 22, 2016 5:50 am

I have noticed that where crafting a weapon some have the two last option for receivers and one before last states in its description has armor piercing, but the next and last receiver although gives slightly better DMG rating does not state anything about armor piercing, ergo does not have it. My question is does the armor piercing part on that particular receiver actually make a difference or come into play at all does anyone know for definitie?

Or is it just a blah blah description which means diddly?

All armor piercing effects are 30%

This translates to a 14% damage increase against enemies with armor > 50% the weapon's damage value.

Any enemies with less armor and the armor piercing loses efficiency.

Yep.....another dumb option that someone just pulled out of their butt. Ammunition makes something AP or not...has nothing to do with the receiver.....except in Fallout! And I know it's a game mechanic -but how cool would it have been if you could find AP ammo in say - 10mm, .44 & .308?

Another thing....+P & +P+ ammo would be a cool legendary drop to find! It could add a slight damage & range boost!

There is a mod that lets you craft ammo a la FO: New Vegas...... I haven't tried it yet, but, may on my next playthru. :)

Go play Stalker. All the guns are great and various ammo types abound. One warning, after using good Russian and European weapons it will be hard to go back to the US based crap.

It's also a punishingly hard game, whose purpose is to humiliate you, so if it's American hero worship, as all American games are, that you like, it will be very difficult.

Yes indeed, the best shooter ever made. Well, single player anyway.

So what does STALKER stand for? I didn't see it on a scan of the Wikipedia page.

And does it run on modern hardware with Windows 8, 10?

Exactly...armor piercing receivers...LOL. I literally thought it was a joke the first time I saw it.

And to think we just had AP, HP, +P, Incendiary, Explosive ammunition....and HANDLOADS on top of that, in the previous game. But have taken one giant leap backward and regressed into magical items.

Loss of ammunition types is one of my biggest beefs with the overall meh to bad ballistic weapon design approach Bethesda decided to develop.

Runs fine on win 10. It means :Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, Robbers.

There are as well many mods for the game, and completely modded games that change a lot of the vanilla game.

I have 3 running now. Played Lost Alpha a few days ago and it's way grittier than any fallout game. Almost scary in the tunnel I was in, and I'm used to it. Several thousand hours in these jewels.

Y'all have actually convinced me to take a look at these games. I assume they are on Steam.

Yes indeed. The 1.0005 version runs on Steam and most of the mods etc will run on it. You can downgrade to 1.0004 for a few older mods but really it's not needed anymore.

Play Shadow as it is, or with the Complete Mod to start out, and go from there. Play on master. It makes everything less tough including yourself, but you have better chance to kill stuff.

I'll support that, STALKER series is very very good. Unforgiving though, you stuff up, you pay for it.

They are here: http://www.moddb.com/games/stalker/mods. There appear to be a few on Nexus but nothing particularly useful.

The Steam forum : http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=313is a useful resource and they will help.

Thanks PenGun, that looks really interesting. I'll definitely give it a look. Can't believe I've had blinders on for so long.

Well with a name like yours, it will be perfect for you. You will die to bandits, dogs, and for reasons you really don't understand. Persevere. ;)
