Controller Conversion for the PC

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 3:07 pm

I was wondering if anyone thinks that Bethesda will allow the 360 controller to play the same on the PC. I usually buy the games for the xbox due to the controller being more an extention of oneself as opposed to the keyboard and mouse feeling more like second nature. But I've always put off buying the game for the PC usually til the GOTY edition or later because the xbox 360 controller didn't work well or at all with the PC version. If I could get Skyrim to work the same as the xbox 360 on my m17x I would just plug in my hdmi and play the game on full graphics in all it's glory on my 52" HDTV and skip the middle man of xbox 360 with medium graphics. Any chance that they will finally translate the controls completely to the PC? I mean they are building it for the console originally so surely they can make it have the compatible controls with the 360 controller.

Certainly possible. I wouldnt mind playing with a game pad from time to time. I like the tactical feed back even though Keyboard/mouse if my favorite combo. If My PC is hooked to a TV gamepad support is nice.

Don't see why not. It was possible to set up in Oblivion.

I hope so. The one and basically only thing that's ever and consistently bugged me about keyboard+mouse control is having only two extremes when it comes to movement, you're either walking or, with the press of a key, running. The anologue sticks on a controller are a million times better for me, so I hope I can use them. If not, though, no big deal. It would be nice is all.

True but it didn't work all that well in Oblivion. It may have been my connection device but it was so bad at performing that it was actually unplayable. Examples are like, the buttons were scrambled and I couldn't get them to work without a mod and even then it still worked badly and the stick only worked on the y axis but the x axis wouldn't work. I was very discouraged. Has anyone else used a controller for Oblivion and know how to set it up. If I can figure out if I did anything wrong it might help with Skyrim if they have a similar setup.
