Preston Garvey: Breaking the cycle

just put a bell next to your tables and ring it, they all come to the bell and then you can mod or whatever since they all standing next to you

the influence system is just about points so any you lose you can make up, if someone hates something its juts more points lost than dislike rather than stops anything.

the best way for cait i found was healing dogmeat, i usually send all my companions to outpost zimonja just so they all in one place so i go there ring the bell they all come stand there, then shoot dogmeat till he goes down then heal with a stimpack that gains affection with cait and also deacon, piper, hancock and preston i think (if you want strong send him away as he dislikes healing dogmeat

also if you wanna cheat it do whatever to increase affection (eg lockpick, healing, modding whatever) then save and load and do again. when you reload it resets the timer before you can gain influence again

Auto-completing successfully is one way. You can also run away as soon as he starts saying "by the way" - without finishing that line no new quest is added, but you'll still get credit for finishing the one you're turning in.

I found another good way of dealing with him is just NOT accept to lead the Minutemen. When says he thinks you can bring the Commonwealth together blah, blah, blah.. say no. Then you can build settlements whenever you want to. He won't bug you, and when/if you're ready to take the castle and want to put up with him accept leading the Minutemen. Eventually you can settle all the settlements. At, least I hope that's the case...

Yes i was able to turn on the radio again.

Preston has stopped being a pest after the patch.

Strong told me off recently.

He still treats me like a brother but i had been entering a lot of power Armour in his presence as i moved my collection around the map.

I hadn't used him as a companion for a while but he came up to me and told me he was angry with me because of all the "nice talk" I had been doing.

So I took him along to Gunners Plaza for a feed of humans.

He's a bit underpowerd these days and I had to keep reviving him with stimpaks.

Anyway he soon idolised me again.

Then i dropped him off at the airport where he hangs around with the BOS.

Maybe that's the progression that the Minutemen quests was supposed to follow.

A few defend the "whatever' and a few help the settlers.

Nice! I haven't played in 5 days. I put in 648 hours and have since taken a break. This is great news though. I'll probably start a new character in a couple days - should be interesting.

another option that workd is to do the minuteman quests but do not talk to preston afterwards i had something like 3 open quests all done but notfinished just do not come near preston untill you feel ready to do some other minuteman quests

these minuteman quests are probably the most annoying gamemechanic in the whole game always the same quests same locations over and over again most of the time the bodies of your previous mission are still there

if only they had some more handcrafted quests every few radiant quests it wouldn t be so annoying

i like radiant quests , they give u exp and reset a location along with it's legendaries

BUT i think they are poorly implemented so my suggestions are : The Problem

- make 1 NPC that gives u all the quests once u reach the "repeatable status " - institute quest have u run around the whole institute and npc could even not be there to give it to u , BoS quests make u travel to two different locations

- the place where u get the quest needs to allow fast travel - u can't fast travel out of the prydwen

- no more usless steps ( get the quest - go to the quest location - get the job done - collect exp ) - the minutemen quests have u travel to the settlement - then to the quest location - then back to the settlement - then to preston

The quest should finish once u complete the objective

i think if thers a problem we should send people out with rank and skill and that would decide if you defend the settlement's

My solution is just to never rescue Preston. And claim sanctuary for my self. I like the minute men I really do. But i just don't want the burden.
