Fix reloading

Post » Fri Jan 22, 2016 6:43 am

Changing weapons reloads the guns. It will be cool if the game remembers how many bullets each gun had. Right now if I change guns during a fight, it kind of feels like an exploit.

It breaks immersion to such an extent that I had to come here to complain about it.

Also if there is a mod that fixes this problem, please point me towards it so I can use it till the next patch.

Didn't know that, but good suggestion.

there are parameters to that. on PC, it seems like if I swap guns, then right back, it is still not re-loaded. but if I swap guns, then reload new gun, go back to old, it is also reloaded!

weird.

I haven't tested it that way, but I think if the magazine is empty, the gun is reloaded even if you didn't reload the new gun, eg after firing two rounds of the double barrel. Some guns can be reloaded faster than they usually do this way.

Haven't found a mod that fixes this, but it's annoying.

its because all weapons in your inventory are stored with no ammo in them and when equipped it loads the mag

so when you switch you put your weapon away which empties the mag and then switch back you equip therefor filling the mag

An far larger problem is it then the game forget to load the weapon model so you stand there looking stupid with no weapon until the right one is loaded.

If that mod is made, the gun should have an extra round in the chamber if you are swapping a partially used mag.

Well, it balances out easily with the time it takes to swap weapons sometimes :D Quid pro quo

No, actually it doesn't. Switching to a pistol and back is faster than most slow reloading guns.

I don't think this is asking for too much, smaller games by smaller developers have implemented this in the past. Several weapons sharing common ammo should not be a problem in remembering how much ammo each weapon has.

While I never switch weapons to reload faster, I do make bullet grabs which probably exploit the same feature. Any time you take a weapon out of a container or out of a corpse's inventory, it will come with a full clip worth of ammo. You can immediately return it to the corpse if you don't want the burden and keep the bullets. If it's a mini-gun that will mean 500 rounds, which is as good as currency for traders even if you don't use 5 mm.

So I always grab weapons out of containers and corpses until I'm overburdened, at which time I'll dump them all into a corpse (so the game will clean it up when it deletes the corpse) and start over again.

I seldom have ammo problems.

Well, it was meant as a sarcastic joke, related to the bug where it can take up to 30 seconds to pull your gun out......
