I am currently only a level 5 however have not been able to select one perk. How do I fix or what am I doing wrong?

They may appear greyed out but as long as you have the requirement (High enough Strength/Charisma/etc) it should be selectable. It will then want a confirmation on your choice.

When I select a perk there is no confirmation approval request given. In fact the only way to select the stars is by selecting ALT however this just shows me the next level.

Each step down requires a higher level of the specific SPECIAL perk to be available. So, you need 5 strength to get the fifth perk down in the strength category, and so on.

Yes, I understand how perks are accessed based on a higher level of SPECIAL. I have an adequate amount of SPECIAL to select many perks however I am not able to actually select them. Not one perk is able to be selected.

Did you by chance use your points to increase a SPECIAL stat?


Does your pipboy show that you have points available?
