I upgraded my GPU...

Post » Sun Jan 24, 2016 6:11 am

I started PC gaming when Skyrim came out after playing Oblivion on PS3 and being envious of mods. I built my first custom gaming PC when BF4 came out. I installed my first high end GPU last night, 6gb GTX 980ti. I just went with the recommended settings from GeForce Experience and played FO4 for about a hour last night. The game looks amazing on the highest settings vs. the medium to high settings I had with my 770.

My question to the community is this, if you were me with this shiny new GPU, what would you do settings and mod wise to get the best out of it for FO4.

Thank you for your time in advance.

Settings wise - MAX IT OUT

Mod wise - ENBs, Some graphical mods, HD textures, and some more GPU dependent mods. Oh, and also of course just normal mods ;)

Have fun in the wasteland with that 980ti! :D

Tech can only go so far with the software so if after throwing tonnes at it Fallout 4 starts to struggle, drop shadow settings. Those aren't really necessary compared to resolution, textures, anti aliasing and effects :)

The only problem that the 980Ti still cannot handle godrays and multiple tree limbs, it may drop to 40fps occasionally, under certain conditions, although its relatively rare.

I would play Fallout 4 as high as it gets, but not with mods on my first play-through!

If you own Skyrim - you will know, modding can brake the game engine thus making you not to finish the game at all. (can happen)

Fallout 4 is quite new, and a lot of fixes and game engine optimizations will follow.

So, just enjoy the game in FullHD and if you finish it, then you can mess up with mods.

Only an idea...

Max everything. If there is any fps drops, lower Godrays.

Btw, consider modding the game yourself. Do your own textures, 3D model and maybe when GECK comes out create your own quest. Some of us running on PC not only for the mods but creating our own mods as well ... :)

Congrats on your 980 Ti

I use the Geforce Experience settings + I have installed the "Full Dialogue Interface" mod as I don't like the original where I have to guess at what will actually be said.
