So I'm on my second playthrough because I completely missed getting the ballistic weave, along with a couple other irrelevant reasons. So I quickly tried to get the armor I had before (heavy combat armor with BOS Uniform) only to discover that I can't upgrade the BOS Uniform (or the badass bomber jacket that I found). So am I missing something or did Bethesda just decide not give any upgrades for it? And if so, why? It'd kind of infuriating if that's the case, since you can upgrade tattered rags but not a uniform that seems like it's sole purpose is to go under armor. Could someone please explain Bethesda's reasoning for this so maybe I won't be so annoyed at this game?

I totally agree that it is a bit hap hazard with what can and can not be upgraded with ballistic weave. Seems to have been a bit of an oversight or bad planning on Bethesda's part.

If I make an attempt to logically sort that out, I could say that Ballistic Weave is a Railroad technology, so technically speaking wouldn't/shouldn't jive with BoS technology, if factions are considered. Would be similar to having a Railroad-themed power armor suit.

However, you can apply BW to a Courser uniform, which is arguably the Railroad's greatest foe, so my theory is pure BS at this point.

Yea. BOS have IMO some of the coolest looking uniforms. Would love to be able to add BW to them.

I wish I was on PC, sadly I'm stuck as a console peasant for the time being guess I'll have to wait until they release mod support for the PS4, but god knows how long that'll take.

Yeah, that was my first thought when I tried to rationalize it but it's still frustrating nonetheless. I tried using the Army Fatigues and lets just say that it emphasized the fat in fatigues, so I rather just take the unupgradable BOS Uniform. Unless anyone has any good (upgradable) alternatives?

I agree, I'd like to be able to upgrade the Brotherhood Fatigues as well. I dont think there's any clothing/armor from the BOS that I didn't like, so it's pretty disheartening that I cant upgrade any of it
