Will settlers come to Spectacle Island?

Would love to start building there, but will settlers come with a recruitment beacon in place?

Yes, they will. Don't ask me how they manage to get there, though. :P

Hmm, so far I have not went to this island for this reason. Addition to the OP question, can you setup a trade route ?

Yes, but since the water is so irradiated you really need to do it with a ghoul or one of the Graygarden robots - otherwise they'll die from radiation poison.

They will, and when you set up a supply line, you can see the provisioner swimming across the water to/from.

So this means that it is impossible for Raiders to attack there, right?

Probably not. I got a super mutant attack there once and they spawned on the northern docks near the collapsed house and shed.

No, it can be attacked by everything.

I've had attacks by Deathclaws, Raiders, Synths, Gunners, and BOS on the Island.

I once set up a recruitment beacon, and had my back turned for a second, and when I looked back, two settlers were already setting up shop. Entity pop, I call it. Same thing with attacks, as they tend to spawn in the middle of settlements most times.

Somehow I knew that would be the case. No logic applied when it comes to settlement attacks.

Not gonna lie, it could use a bit of work...I haven't even seen any mods that situate attacks to a more reasonable spawnpoint.

And you won't until the tools are released. Once the kit is out there will be all kinds of mods that change things such as moving spawn points to more logical places.

That's the point I'm at. While I'm having fun with Fallout 4, I'm ready to mod this fool. But...I'm waiting for the Kit, because right now the offerings are just...reskins and retextures, and mods that may possibly not work when the GECK releases.

Has anyone else had issues with the sonar pulse thing? Sometimes it randomly turns off and i come back to anarchy with mirelurks attacking my settlers, but I didn't modify/change the power source from the boat. Was extra careful not to scrap the trees the wire is attached to

It's magic lol

Equipping a human settler with a hazmat suit works as well.

In general though, the supply lines to Spectacle Island seem somewhat patchy in my experience. They'll randomly drop out and come back. I think the provisioner gets stuck down on the ocean floor or something like that and the supply line gets cut off until they manage to find their way out of whatever spot they're in. Fast traveling away and back again seems to fix this because they randomly respawn when you reenter the cell.

Maybe they can also drown?

I've definitely had issues where supply lines cut out, but revisiting the settlement generally works. Not sure if that only happened for Spectacle Island though.

That's definitely a possibility. I've never had the supply lines outright disappear permanently though. They've just temporarily cut out. Other people have reported them disappearing altogether, so I don't know. The whole thing could be solved if there was some kind of system implemented into the game to run a transport between the Castle and Spectacle Island. I'm honestly surprised that they didn't do this. A ferry between the two could end up being a 'special' item that you have to build. Then you either assign a unique settler to running the ferry, or the provisioner doubles as the ferry operator. I like to play mostly without fast travel, and I feel stupid swimming out there all the time. I could call in a Vertibird transport to get out there, but that seems kind of silly too. I'm looking forward to a mod that will fix this. There are already some kind of hokey mods out there that let you build a bridge between the two, but it's an imperfect solution.

Your supply line will temporarily disappear if a provisioner is virtually attacked and takes a knee.

When they recover and start walking again the supply line returns.

I had to redo a supply once because the chosen route meant that the provisioner was forever going down.

I've only had one supply line disappear completely.

It was a run by a MR Handy to Spectacle Island

Sometimes when I walk past a particular point on the map I see a pack Brahman that has spawned inside a wire fence enclosed quadrangle that doesn't have a gate.

Nearby there is a Mr Handy wandering around that looks like he's taken a bit of damage.

Earlier in the game i came across a dead pack Brahman and destroyed Mr Handy.

I often wonder if those sightings are somehow related to that disappeared supply line or if the wandering Mr Handy is the hippy one from Sunshine Tidings.

Presently the Spectacle Island run is done by a human who swims over to the Castle and back without problem, just in normal clothes.

If you follow her she jumps in the water, swims for a bit, then disappears, later materialising a little distance from the Castle where she completes the journey on foot.

Yes settlers will show up there on their own. You can also transfer them from other settlements and they normally make it ok, never had anybody die on their way there yet.

I've been attacked by raiders twice, a synth infiltrator once and about 8 synth eradicators (thats not a fun thing to be attacked by) and 2 legendary synths 3 times.

I've only noticed one spawn point for them all. There is a little trailer on a hill where you activate the siren to drive out all the mirelurks, well a little bit to the left of that there is a ruined elevated shack (not the ruined houses, they're closer to the beach). Enemies normally spawn next to that every time for me. I know its cheesy but you could lock that area down with turrets so anything gets lit up as soon as it spawns.

What I read around wiki is that if you put Recruitment Beacon, they will go there.

But if you tell them to go there from another settlement, the humans will die of sea radiation.

Probably a good way to kill them if you're bored. LOL

I've had Spectacle Island for a couple of in-game weeks.

The recruitment beacon so far hasn't produced a single recruit (have 10 Chr and average about 20 settlers per location). The twelve settlers I have there now were all reassigned and sent there by me from other settlements. None of these transferees had a problem getting to the island, and they don't seem to have been affected by radiation at all.

My supply line is to Warwick Homestead, and has so far operated perfectly ok without giving the provisioner a Hazmat suit. It seems, therefore, that the sea crossing has no effect on NPCs.

Semi-related note, and something I can laugh at myself re that island. I was just exploring (unsure if there's a quest that sends you to Spectacle), and swam out to some of the ships offshore. Didn't find much, and swam from ship to ship.

Swam to the last ship, and bang - found something really cool. (No spoilers.) Thought to myself, geez, no one is ever going to find that on a random ship offshore from a remote island! I should post about this in the forum! Help people out.

...then I noticed this last ship had a walkway to it from shore, and is super-accessible from the other side. Derp.
