Just had an strange experience. On my way to get some stuff for Moe I cleared out an small outdoor location of supermutants. Killing the last I got xp for clearing the location.

However I have no quests involving supermutants at all.

I have cleared the location earlier for an quest for valentine, so it has to be an radiant one.

Anybody else run into this?

Like, a completed objective came up and went away?

Hm. I think the radiant Minutemen quests queue up regardless of if we officially start them - so even if you haven't got the quest in the journal, you can still complete the objective. Next time you do a Minuteman quest, maybe they'll give you a quest to clear out that place and you can be all "already did it yo"

I find myself getting xp from nowhere. It isn't from my companion. Just be wandering and get 20 here 30 there and we are not killing anything.

Sometimes Deathclaws will spawn and kill your nearby enemies

I had two minutemen quests in the list, one to clear out ghouls and one where I paid the ransom to raiders.

However I have noticed that settlements sometimes get an drop in happiness for no good reason, then you go there to check out they often give you an random quest just like from preston.

I wonder if this could explain it. Also wonder if Preston somehow send you to this settlementets however it don't match up well enough.

I get random exp all the time too. I just kind of figured it was from unannounced settlement attacks and the exp was from settlers killing the enemies. also, I sided with the institute and will run into random synth patrols with dead enemies laying around. another possible source

I get xp everytime I get close to the cambridge police station danse and them start killing ghouls and I geuss i get some xp from it.

That is another thing, I entered an location once, heard gunfire and got an quest completed, I then saw some synths so I guess they had spawned and killed the boss. Same thing in Skyrim then an dragon killed an bandit chief.

You will also get xp then friendly forces kill enemies.

This one was an quest completed message for clearing location and around 200xp.

I was traveling near the edge of some big town (don't recall just which one) when I encountered some raiders. I engaged with one of them, but decided I didn't want to mess with the rest so I was continuing on my way. Suddenly, some scavengers appeared, and starting fighting the raiders. Every time a raider dropped I got XP.

Thinking that was cool, I hung around to watch (and collect whatever XP I could just 'cuz ). So, the scavengers won pretty quickly, and just as the battle was finishing up three supermutants showed up. I joined with the scavengers in fighting them and I got XP on all three of the supermutants too, though I only killed one. When the fighting was over, one of the scavengers leveled his weapon at me and basically told me to beat it. I decided to comply, though I looted a couple of the raiders on my way out.

All in all, a pretty satisfying encounter...

I found a settler prisoner in a random building I entered, a police station I think. I later talked to Blake someone and got a bit of XP.

The unknown xp while wandering, it depends on which factions are friendly. I'm friendly with all 4, so if there are battles in the area, I get xp when friends shoot hostiles. When a location is open, meaning no doors needs to be open, it happens that friends kills your quest target. If you need to find spesific items on bodies, there will be a green pointer so no loss, except xp. I have seen this in TES also, if you wound a hostiles a little, someone else kills it, you get the whole xp.
