I'm not sure if this is because of the beta patch, but I've only noticed this since then. I started having trouble placing stores in a settlement. Sometimes the option for a certain store will completely disappear from the workshop menu. I also have had problems assigning settlers to anything, stores in particular. I keep assigning them and they keep walking away, but sometimes a minute or so later it will say they are assigned. If I can get them assigned, at some settlements once they are working as a merchant, they will just say the generic settler phrases and won't sell. I don't have any settler related mods installed, just a settlement size mod (to let you build more).

Those are all individual bugs that pre-existed the patch. I can confirm encountering all of them from before the first patch.

Sometimes assigning settlers to something is instantaneous, but many times there is a delay while the game recalculates values based on the new assignment. It can take 10-15 seconds sometimes for it to go through. Don't interfere with the process, just wait. If, after 20 seconds or so, the message "This resource has been assigned" doesn't pop up, try again.

It is also common for settlers to engage in animations unrelated to their assigned tasks, especially companions and the original settlers from Sanctuary. The Longs make particularly bad store operators, as their default animations are almost always given priority over resource assignment animations.

I had similar issue trying to assign the Vault-Tec Rep to Trading Emporium. He just walks away. Will try and wait longer and see.
