Maskar - taming the unicorn

Post » Tue Jan 26, 2016 2:21 pm

1- If I tame the unicorn, what is he supposed to get when getting xp?

2- will he get bigger?

2-1. will he get new powers?

3- if Maskar makes you able to tame a creature, does it mean that you can also fail the quest to slay the unicorn if you tame him?

4- Can I tame even mod added creatures?

Some creatures just cannot be tamed. I have tried taming guars and others, but it doesn't work and you get a message saying "This creature cannot be tamed" or something similar. I would think you would fail to tame the unicorn.

That said, I was able to find and fight a unicorn at Fort Alessia and got a horn from it that I could provide to Hircine. Visiting the Harcane grove later on, I found another unicorn!! I was able to ride this unicorn, so it became my horse for a while!

@dedalus

Tamed unicorns will grow stronger when gaining experience/levels, but can't learn new spells.

MOO spawns additional unicorns, so there's no need to slay them.

You can tame creatures added by other mods, as long as they're recognized. If not, let me know so they can be added in the next update.

@anithinks

What creatures from what mod(s) were you unable to tame?

I believe I was unable to tame guars (from MOO), Pahmars (From OOO Creature Addons? OOO? MOO? not sure), among a few others. I thought that the skill requirement (speechcraft?) to tame these creatures would be too high for me.

Considering MOO guars certainly are tamable it sounds like your character simply doesn't have enough speechcraft skill.

Taming a creature with insufficient skill will give the "You have no chance of taming this creature." message. If you can't tame the creature at all you'll get the "You can't tame that!" message.

That is the exact behavior I see, so thanks for confirming Maskar. I now understand that the Unicorn in tame-able (I am sure the speechcraft requirement is high!)
