Perhaps I should expand a little. Notable Settlers, that were under my control. Can I say anything to them except "Lets trade", no not on you life. Two settlers talking to each other.... one says to the other "I'm not sure we will ever see our son again".......Aha, I think to myself, I'll ask them about their son, maybe I can help, or something like that, or get a more information perhaps..... nope "Let's trade" that was all that could be said.... aw for goodness sake !!..... I talked to Carter(?), and could get nothing but his fixed line, do I want to do his job, words to that effect. I also started a completely new settlement, I got two settlers who arrived, no idea what their names are, or where they came from, or anything about them, but I can say “Let‘s trade“. Is the game just about pure mechanics, I ask myself, the mechanics of fighting and winning, the mechanics of settlement building, and no talking except "Let's trade".
Fallout 3, you could hardly stop them talking. Though there Were complaints of shopkeepers saying the same thing, most times, well shopkeepers do that even in real-life. I guess Bethesda listened to those complaints, and now we get no talking at all, smile, 'shrug', chuckle.
It would have been nice to actually have the possibility of saying something different to "Let's trade". I found that there is no longer any point of attempting, but it might have added a bit more immersion, more that just the mechanics of building and mechanics of combat manoeuvres.
