Facial and Body Features are Fully Customizable

Post » Mon Jun 28, 2010 7:33 am

Apparently, both facial and BODY features are customizable. So height, weight, etc, all adjustable.

Also, in a picture of a tavern, you can see a few NPCs in the background. One of them appears to have a jolly belly, while the other does not.

So this basically means not only will we have more options to customize our character, but NPCs will have more options for variety as well. The lack of fat, jolly innkeepers disturbed me in the last two games.

So it actually said that in the article? I'm looking really close at the picture but can't tell if the barkeep is fat or not.

They mention in the article that bodies are customisable now.

I have to agree that this piece of information is quite pleasing. The series really needed some variety in bodies. Not just as an option available during character customization, but also in NPCs as well. It waits to be seen just how much room the game will allow for variety in this regard, but even if it's just having a few preset body shapes to choose from when creating characters as opposed to actually having sliders that cause the body models to deform like face customization in Oblivion, it's still a great improvement over what we had before.

I was kind of worried that all of the characters would have ELBOWS OF STEEL.

Junk slider or GTFO...

But, seriously, good news. I wonder what a fat Bosmer looks like? Or a super buff Altmer?

Ya know, even if it was just that, I would be perfectly happy.

What about customizable chest hair? I want to make a hairy Nord...

Seriously though, this is very cool. It's going to take me forever to create my character though, in Oblivion I could easily spend more than an hour with FaceGen.

Yeah I would be head over heels :)

And I hope your the other reply is right that these are options.
And with beards and even the possibility of tattoos.....

This might be one hell of a character creator.

Best feature news so far imo, will make the inhabitants look more natural rather than a congregation of gym rats. Add a further refined facial hair system from fallout and were cooking with gas.

The picture I have is not really clear but in the back the one is male and the other female. And the males are pretty muscular in Skyrim, much more than the females. So I'm not sure if there really are different body types.

But I haven't read the whole thing so you're probably right. :P

lol I'm sorry but, the picture you have as your avatar... Hahaha. You kind of look like a weirdo.. :D

On topic: This is great news. Finally lazy, good for nothing shopkeepers won't look like they work out at the gym 5 days a week, 2-3 hours a day. I mean really, where would they find the time to do that? And also, there's no fricken gyms in Tamriel.
