Even though I placed 20 or so of them in a small beginner mod of mine, the molerats scatter as though I'm the grim reaper or something.... It's so annoying! I can't figure it out, I suspect it has something with level scaling, but I don't know..

It sounds like you did not navmesh the area. Regular molerats will attack with prejudice normally.
