Do you get to the upperstands very often?

Post » Wed Jan 27, 2016 4:00 pm

"Oh, who am I kidding, of course you don't."

How do you feel about the snobbish NPC's in Bethesda games, or any RPG for that matter?

Personally, I can't stand them (because they don't like me)... which is perfect...

No matter who you are, there's always going to be people out there who dislike you, for any given reason.

However, i do feel like it's a generic way to force social tension.

I mean, shouldn't i be able to throw on a Tuxedo, and infiltrate my way though their ranks, resulting in the lower class folks disliking me instead?

Id like to join the dapper gents in celebration of the "finer things" in life!

You know... kicking back on the upper stands, looking down upon the lower class folks, whilst sipping my bourbon and puffing on a fine cigar :D

After all, this is an RPG, right...

Yes, it's just too bad there isn't very much meaningful RPG interaction opportunity with most of them, other than random insults on their part. A lot of potential in all of Diamond City for much more in the way of side quests and things to do, but no.

I agree. There's not enough RP in this RPG.

I guess you already got the answer.

You can't expect much from people of lower class, especially when humanity have been destroyed and their world is cramped in Diamond City.

Apparently, I fall into the lower class...

I just wish, from a role playing standpoint, that I had more choice in the matter.

Throwing on a tux isn't going to change the fact that they've never seen you before. They don't recognize you...they've never heard of you. That's how the 'upper crust' often works. Reputation counts for a lot. When you first get to Diamond City, they have no reason to think that you're one of them.

The Tuxedo is just a means to get your "foot into the door". Then, once you get their attention, you should be forced to pass a speech check to sway them into believing you're truly 'one of them'. That should in turn open up some quests, and (upon completion) some 'status' among the upper class NPC's.

Obviously, you don't enjoy the "finer things" in life. To each their own ;)

I know, right.

In my opinion, the "snobbish" folk are a breath of fresh air compared to the numerous NPC's who just 'blindly' trust the SS with even the most critical of quests: "My crazed dad will kill us all if he escapes! I'm trusting you, random guy I just met. The decision of wether or not to kill, or free him is yours..."

Then again it's not like there was ever much RPing with pure [censored]s in Bethesda games ever e.g Dorian, Voranil, Nazeem. At least, there was some interaction with Malcolm Latimer.

Skyrim had the Thieves Guild, and they were greatly funded by Maven of Riften.

Also, the Dark Brotherhood had interactions with a decent amount upper class NPC's.

And if being a thief, or assassin, isn't RPing... I don't know what is...

I think its highly inappropriate behavior to make offensive remarks to heavily armed and dangerous lunatics in a world where death is dealt out as matter of daily course with the same sort of frequency as a person today might look at a clock to determine exactly how many more minutes they have to wait in class or at the job before they can play Fallout 4 again.

*Raises glass of Bourbon*

"Here here!"

*Leans over towards 'Dapper Fellow 1'*

"I do believe this fellow to be mad. Stay calm, and follow my lead!"

*Leans back upright in chair & clears throat*

"I say, sir. Do you make it to the Cloud District very often?"

I've thought about it and I'm more mad at the regular DC people. They are all dikes. One of the reasons they're dikes to you is cause you don't live in DC. Even when I buy Home Plate.

This, now being the general of the minutemen and leader 30 settlements and an population 5 times larger than diamond city should change things a bit.

Still its not just about money or power, some snobs only respect old money, other fear you, that stops you from taking over diamond city.

The major office is empty and looks like an nice place, yes it need an vertibird landing pad but not much else you can not simply build.

Hey it worked for jack in titanic. I had to "correct" Mr Latimer up in those stands, so he won't be down for breakfast.
