Combat Zone...

Post » Wed Jan 27, 2016 8:38 am

I watched a video from Kotaku.... regarding a thing... called "combat zone"... From the trailer I assumed that we were getting an arena game type like Oblivion... but it seems like we are not... what's going on? is it really "cut" content? because it seems weird.. because it's something that had been done really well before.. why decided not to include in this one? I'd like to punch someone out, or beat them with a baseball bat, and watch them flying toward the electrical cage wall.. and blow up like a water balloon... a... blood/guts/gore/giblets filled water balloon? yeah... sounds like a REAL fun... are we getting it soon? patch? plz? it's ok... we'll wait... but let us have some fun with it!~

Part of a DLC?

Maybe a wristband.

So fighting in the Combat Zone is a go, as are betting on robot races and bowling at the Mr. Gutsy mfg plant

I didn't want to say DLC... because it feels like it should already be in the game... just cut because time issue.... Game type isn't DLC material... story/adventuure/weaponz/maps is more of DLC worthy... this seems more like... "DLC + this"? like... "here is the epic DLC, oh~ and here is Arena mode to complement the DLC!~" YES, I know you said "part of" but I fear Bethesda would built a DLC based on "Combat Zone"... I'd hate that... I wanted to see more glowing sea, Under water stuff, and Enclave's "weaponized power armor" (marvel war machine style) Weapon add-ons for power armor~

Of course there could be missions and story based around it. the spoiler was largely an attempt at humor.

Look at something like the Pitt, where the story leads you to find yourself within the ranks that would be fighting in the arena.

You could be trying to infiltrate a slaver ring, or get close to a leader that is attempting to unite the raider clans.

Fighting in the combat zone is a way to prove yourself.... or maybe those slavers own you and force you to fight.

Wishful thinking, I know. but when I see places that don't look fleshed out, or doors that are inaccessible, etc, my mind goes to "potential DLC."

I just wish DLC isn't existing assets... but rather... altered/new assets...

I don't follow this thread...what is in the game is there for a specific purpose, maybe not what people expected though.

Bethesda and Kotaku 'don't exactly get on',

I would treat anything you see there as a leak or speculative.

Cut content is a normal part of game development,

sometimes it re-emerges, sometimes not.

Real shame it was cut. Loved the arena's in oblivion and fallout 3. Spent a lot of time in there. :sadvaultboy:

Hopefully Bethesda realize it was one of their winning features and are saving it for an expansion or content patch.

Yes both of them was pretty wasted options. Just named the group something else than raiders and make them neutral.

Did not even think about the bowling even if I redefined the bowling rules some as I found the bowling balls was hopeless http://i.imgur.com/no9RENj.pngGrenades also work :)

And yes that place could also been expanded easy, think greygarden but shopping and activities rater than farming.

Just thought it was another regional thing from Boston old days. Like Fallon's and Eddie Winter, amongst others. obvious name changes from the original but the same sense anyways.

About 80% of what I do in this game is fighting/killing enemies. What would be the purpose of adding in another area/faction whose only purpose is to set up fighting situations? That's what a majority of the game already is.

um... forced melee/fist fight, bet on gladiators, and watch them fight to death? yeah... not everyone's going to do it, but with spacial weapons/items as reward for ranking up... I think some would totally go foe a different game play, and besides, a good dev don't mind putting contents that some people will miss... that's what made for a water cooler moments anyways...

The combat zone was a real place. Its known for prostitution 60-70s and those streets were zined for advlt entertainment. Nicknames because of soldiers In uniform. Very violent place

Its now luxury apts, school campuses and retail

If anything it should be violent, no arenas and characters like magnolia

There was supposed to be an arena in Skyrim also but it was cut (in Windhelm I believe). Seems Bethesda 'thinks' it's a great idea, but they can never get around to making it work.
