Weapon unrealistic imbalanced damage

Post » Thu Jan 28, 2016 4:24 pm

Hello,

I do not know if this has been posted / discussed before, however I wanted to point out, that weapon damage is rather imbalanced.

Why does the .44 Revolver when maxed out damage wise do more damage than the hunting rifle fitted with a .50 receiver?

After all .50 is the caliber of anti-material rifles and the hunting rifle modded in the right why certainly looks that way.

It makes sense that the revolver does more damage than a pistol since a pistol harnesses some of the bullets energy to reload, leaving less energy to actually propel to bullet itself.

That does not hold true for the hunting / anti-material rifle. - It is kind of strange that a revolver does more damage than a weapon used to fight armored vehicles in the real world.

I can hit someone with a hammer and do the equivalent damage of 20 nukes. Don't worry about realism.

You can have a portable cannon launcher and you're worried about realism......

This setting is far from realistic that you can get. Don't think too much on it.

Just because the game isn't inherently realistic, does not give it a free pass on logic on internal consistency.

Actually if you could have the same cartridge in both an auto-pistol and a revolver the revolver would tend to have less POWER due to the velocity loss of the barrel-to-cylinder gap. That pressure is held better by the auto-pistol design. BUT having said that the big-bore revolver calibers like the .44 Magnum are CRAZY powerful because that GIGANTIC case (longer and wider than most semi-auto handgun cartridges) holds a TON of powder and still has room for a larger and heavier bullet.
