places you hate

Post » Fri Jan 29, 2016 4:34 am

is there a particular place you absolutely HATE to go, and find yourself having to go back?

for me, it is the corvega assembly plant. i undoubtedly HATE that place. even in my 2nd play thru, the place still gets me turned around. i have a helluva time finding all the enemies to complete the quest. for some reason, the enemies seem tougher, as i die most often there. hand to god, if i had one of my cheap keyboards connected right now, it would SNAPPED.........IN...........HALF!!!!!!

i mean i just went there, PC is a lvl 47 stealth/melee and i get taken out by a mkII turret???????????? GGGGGGGUUUUUUHHHHHHDDDDDDD

.....rant over

Easily, The Glowing Sea. Constant geiger counter making noises. Poor visibility. Constantly having to fight Radscorpions. Walking around in a barren, boring wasteland.

Never thought of it that way... I remember on my first play-through when I was Preston's slave that he sarcastically named "general" I got sick to death of that hospital full of super-mutants that always kidnapped the same person over and over. I remember thinking for the umpteenth time, "ugh, not that again."

I suppose the only other place I actively dislike is probably the RR HQ. Poorly laid out, cluttered. Can never find PAM or Tinker Tom without running around the whole place.

PAM sends me to University Point all the time. And I think I could go through Federal Ration Stockpile blindfolded now.

+1. I was having an easy time of it until I had to clear out some of them. Not only is my armor lacking in rad protection, but their weapons seem to block the whole screen, so you can't see them. Hate them!

Vid or it didn't happen ;)

Warwick Homestead....

Somehow either the mother or the daughter manage to get kidnapped every 3-4 days, despite it heaving a defense value of 40...

Spoiler
Fort Hagen (when I'm low-level and on MQ)

The fight against Kelogg is just unfair when you're low level and playing on Survival, in my first playthrough he just 1shot me, 2nd time I was there in power armor and got 4shot.. it's just not fun (Unless you are level 51 in X01 armor and punch his components out with your bare metal fists...).

Thicket Excavation (again, when you're low level + on survival)

Because 2hitting mirelurks that early on are... "fun"...

Lexington

"Hey, fighting noises, better investigate..."

"Looks like those ghouls got killed by something expl.."*BOOOM*

1shot killed by a raider with Rocket launcher in Power Armor

Kingsport Lighthouse

As mentioned above... those Rad-Guns... and for their lack of armor the Children of Atom are insanely tough

Any place where Preston Garvey is...

"I've heard from another settleme..." "NO!!"

Corvega.

No, I don't want to spend 10 minutes wandering in a circle until I find the right elevator. Again. For the third time in a row. Send me somewhere else, Preston.

At least they are trivial to defend against (slips on Hazmat suit)

though the stun is the issue isn't it...

yeah. even sending in your companion to detract them, will easily be taken down. the knock-back on their weapons seems to be a little OP. You would think for a radiation damage, the kick would be more subtle. Rather, this should be like a soundwave gun or something. =P

Just go in with the hazmat suit on, and you can sneer at their useless gamma guns.

rads aren't the problem. its the force of their weapons.

Corvega, as many have said already. But at least by now I know what to expect, enemy-wise.

Any location infested with Super Mutants, ESPECIALLY Fauniel Hall - that was where I encountered my very first Super Mutant Suicider, so I always approach cautiously since then.

But if I have to go to Dunwich Borers for any reason, I will hesitate. That place is downright creepy. So many Ghouls, and dark and mysterious...

If been to Corvega so much I can tell you how to get through it so fast.

  1. Enter the main door

  2. Go straight through the door

  3. Take your first Right into the room.

  4. Go left through the whole in the wall

  5. Go left into the hall.

  6. Go through the blue door at the end of the hall.

  7. Go down the stairs till it opens into the small room

  8. Head left and you'll see the elevator

  9. Take the elevator.

This will put you into the room with the 2 turrets, end chest, corvega safe, protectron, and 4-5 guys.

As for locations, I hate one of the locations just north of goodneighbor, since if it's not cleared it's quick travel point is almost in the compound and will get you fired upon by 3-4 raiders before you can even go into stealth...

Corvega man. Corvega. Especially a boon as the first time I cleared it I was a really low-level, so now if I have to go back I just run straight in one-shotting every raider that gets in my way, leaving a trail of death.

You can access an back door and get right into the assembly plant if you have exited that door before.

Glowing Sea - the first time, I did explore the whole area. The second time, I went straight for the crater and then Virgil's cave. I don't care about what's out there. I just want to get in and out quickly! Don't get me wrong, I love the atmosphere there, but wandering around in PA is so cumbersome. Plus, the place just creeps me out/scares me - more so than Dunwich Borers actually. lol

Dunwich Borers - most locations that you have to clear out, will have the main guy/boss in an easy to access location, but not Dunwich, you have to crawl through half the tunnels, before you can kill the boss and complete the quest.

Corvega is just boring. At least I know exactly where to go and don't have to fight my way through every freakin' raider there. lol

Oh - one place I'm avoiding like the plague this time around - Vault 81. Stupid Molerat Disease. Sorry Curie, you are on your own.

For me, Fort Hagen, getting inside isn't a problem, finding the elevator that leads to the 2nd part of the base is a problem.

Any of the locations that trip up the weird performance problems that I have. Corvega is a big one, I really have no idea why it does that.

The D.B. Technical High School. I'm all for the extensive dungeons, but there comes a point where it just drags out for far too long going up and down from one floor to another and it gets tiresome. Especially when you're sneaking.

And good god the speaker. Why the hell is that thing still on?
