Why does my enchanting not work?

Post » Sun Jan 31, 2016 5:56 pm

I had the "Necklace Of Revival" which is 50% Health Regen I also have 100 Enchanting and the first 5 perks in the tree giving 100% stronger enchants but after disenchanting the necklace and enchanting chest armor it only gave 20% Heath Regen.

I had 20% generic armor that I sold because I thought that i'd get 50% from custom enchant but I guess not...why is that?

This is off topic but allow me to vent please.

Ok after this happened I figuered "ok whatever" i'll just go back to a prior save and get the 20% armor back then buy the necklace again then have 70% total but the most recent save I had was one 3/4 through the last dungeon so I go all the way back THEN go back to buy the necklace but not only is it not there but every merchant in Whiterun is broke!

I've never really focused on enchanting, but typically player-made enchantments are weaker, but balanced out by being able to create them at any time as opposed to needing to find them, as well as being able to place two enchantments on one item.

Don't forget that you can use potions, other perks, and powers from Dragonborn's Black Books to increase the magnitude of your enchantments, too.

When you disenchant an item, you simply learn the enchantment effect without regard to magnitude. Makes no difference if you disenchant a dagger of 5 fire damage or 25 fire damage - you simply learn the enchantment effect of 'fire damage'. The magnitude applied to an item you enchant with an effect that you know is determined not by the item you may have disenchanted to learn the effect but by your enchanting skill as modified by any relevant perks/potions/gear that may boost enchanting skill.

The "ins-and-outs" of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Enchanting in Skyrim. An example with regard to the "why you didn't get at least 50%". If you disenchant a blade of fire that burns for say 54 points you get the exact same enchant as when you disenchant an iron dagger of embers that does 6 points of damage. The strategy is to disenchant low level items of the same type as your very nice Ebony Dagger of Incineration (but never disenchant it unless you can make better). Depending on whether you have the unofficial patches or not there are ways to make your enchants godlike and even with the unofficial patches you can still make demi-god enchants. See the link provided. :) Cheers!

Very nice Ninja Acadian we're in agreement. :D
