2 things to try to see if it fixes the issue:

1) https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

2) Delete the files Fallout4.ini, Fallout4Prefs.ini, and Fallout4Custom.ini in the My Documents/My Games/Fallout 4 folder. Once you have done this run the Fallout 4 launcher to regenerate these files.

These 2 things fixed issues that some people were experiencing before the beta went live.

These 2 lines in FalloutCustom.ini seem to be inducing the crashes since this new patch:
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

They also crash it if placed into Fallout.ini

Those two lines are not a problem for me. I have them both in my FalloutCustom.ini and am not having any crash issues.

Since those lines tell the game to use loose files instead of the archived (.ba2) ones it sounds like the problem may lie among your loose files somewhere.

I heard from others, that certain mods with textures lead to crashes, since the modded textures are incorrectly compressed, or otherwise wrong.

There was one mod for the blood splatters, which was found as a culprit for crashes. I do not use mods at this time, so I cannot confirm this, but try to move all extra textures away from the game, if the two lines make problems.

Maybe a texture which is not original part of the game causes this...

Exact same problem here. Windows 10, immediately when clicking "Play", window closes. TEST BEFORE RELEASING PATCHES PLEASE! As you can see here, it's not just one person with the issue. How do we remove this patch?

Anyone know how to back this patch out? I don't care what the patch fixes, I'd rather be able to play the game (As I was able to a few hours ago) than have it immediately close when clicking "play"...

The patch is fine. Are you running any mods?

Sorry, correction. It doesn't crash when clicking "Play". It crashes after the "Please stand by" screen and click click any key to begin.

Strange, crashing ONLY happened after this patch, but when starting if I choose the PREVIOUS save (Instead of most recent), I was able to get it to work... I've played for 70 hours and it's only done this immediately after applying the patch. Is it a HUGE coincidence or did the patch corrupt my "current" game? I deleted the current save and played from the one before current and so far seems to work. Hope this works for others! Let me know!

This is very annoying, I was looking forward to playing fallout 4 today, but it is unplayable. Textures! Textures everywhere! In massive polygons covering my field of view! I wish I didn't install this update... Is there a way to revert, any at all? PLEASEEE HELLP MEEE
