So I've been send to secure the workshop of a settlement...

So I get a quest to secure the workshop at Croup Manor, which I already secured. I thought maybe raiders had overrun it when I wasn't looking but when got there it had settlers. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

On a side note, I do have a mod that adds a workshop to the manor's basemant so that may be part of the problem. I'm probably going to remove it anyway.

Wow. I'm on my third character, each of which had an extensive network of settlements, and I've never had a settlement called Croup Manor. I'm guessing it has to be up around Salem somewhere, as that is my last piece of unexplored real-estate.

Were the settlers already there? I got sent to build a settlement at Hangman's Ally, which I had already claimed and renovated to an extent. But, I had never built a radio beacon there, which was part of the objective. Had to go build one, then turn it immediately off and send the one settler who showed up to another settlement. Don't want no busybody settlers nosing around my adventuring camp, attracting raiders and the like.

some quests are make way for x settlement. croup manor is one of those. basically you are told that it's a good places for a settlement and once you clear it settlers will settle there. I had wandered into croup manor and cleared the place and as I was mess around there like 4 settlers showed up just as they do when you put down a recruitment tower.

I am going to guess and say it is the mod adding the second workbench. did you activate the first one by the motorcycle?

But yeah Croup Manor is on the water front side near Libertaria (or what ever the raider hideout made of ships is called) I usually find no use for it at all but the Railroad once had me make it a safehouse.

Yeah, I'm guessing its the mod. Guess I'll just remove it and hope the quest doesn't come up. (I loaded an earlier save.) And I believe it is north of the Salem museum. There's a huge manor that is pretty useless so I'm very thankful for Spring Cleaning (though scrapping it apparently leaves a big hole you have to deal with.

Croup Manor is perpetually creepy thanks to the music that plays when you are in that cell. No amount of lighting, settlers, facilities or repairs will make it a pleasant place. Which is why I like to visit it as there's always action further down the road towards Libertalia. The respawn of the neighbouring scraps between NPCs here and Hangman's Alley make both spots ideal for looting. It's a place for more adventure rather than rest.
