Sanctuary-

my water purifier in the river no longer produces water in my workbench.

unless my community is drinking them all !?? i already disconnected the wire and attached it again ,thinking a reset would help but no.

does anyone have info or direction to fix this? because this is not cool that i no longer have water being produced.

thanks for help.

If you have more water production than settlers there should be excess. I recently had a similar problem where water prufiers were showing zero production despite being operational and the generators still powering them. I fixed it by in workshop mode selecting them, moving them slightly and sitting them back down, in effect 'resetting' them.

had this happen plenty of times

the moving or storing/replace or scrap/rebuild never worked for me

but the thing that did (incase those dont) was i seeded the workbench with 1 bottle of purified water, and after that started working perfectly again

have no idea whether this did it or was some kinda coincidence but the game loooooooooves overwriting any stored purified water in workbench so i figured it was that.

give it a try if nothing else works

you only have one purifier there? i would build more but try taking out all the the "aid stuff" from the workbench, any crops etc, empty it out then go somewhere and come back it should be fixed. i have so many purifiers i don't notice a few missing here or there but thats happened to me when i just had 1 or 2 purifiers, just empty everything except the junk from the workbench.

I've got the same bug at Sanctuary since the start, multiple Purifiers not producing water, tried everything possible to fix it but it's just bugged.

I am having this problem also. I have two powered industrial purifiers and only eight settlers. There is no way they are drinking all that water!

Maybe shortage in other, connected settlements? They won't show a shortage in "red" as long as they find something in a connected workbench...

Alizarin- i am going very slow with this game. i am in no hurry but will i will try the re-seeding of the purifier and also i am going to build another purifier or 3. i was going to wait and create an industrial one but screw it i'll make another.

and i will empty out the workbench aid items. and i will check my other settlements. i have one at the Drive in movie theater but i placed the purifier right in the radioactive water pool in the middle of the parking lot  i don't know if that matters or not. maybe i'm killing those settlers??

Steele Magnolia i definitely have to check that- i think i may have too many- maybe like 17 in sanctuary. but i am not 100% sure. maybe only 14. but still probably enough to use the "goods".

Also when i harvest my crops i place them into a dresser that i created should i do this or put the crops somewhere else so the settlers can eat the food??? this game doesn't give many directions on how things work. kind of use guesswork to figure these things out!.

Check Red Rocket. Mine has shown up there before.

Sell your crops or plant them. Your settlers will be fine.

you can scrap the radio-active waste barrels that are in the pool of water, this removes all the radiation except for the normal water rads.

This happens to me frequently on both the PC and the PS4.

I don't think it counts what you store inside of crafted containers, just the default ones already in place when you begin the settlement like the toolboxes and workbench.

I had this issue as well in Sanctuary. I have 180 water which was actually producing about 167. Once I saved the MM crew and they went to Sanctuary, my water stopped producing. For days, it stayed at 17. Tonight I removed all the water except for one. I went to check the next in game day and......Water again!

I have definitely seen my waters showing up at settlements with supply lines, for sanctuary, it's usually red rocket.

Routinely find 61+ waters there and only very few at Sanctuary.

Its started happening to me on the island. No supply routes so the water isn't going elsewhere. No attacks, no damaged generators. The 6 water purifiers have just stopped.

Not sure if it affects happiness, I think so since it has plummeted from 80 to 45.

Storing them and replacing them does nothing, putting water in your workbench does nothing, moving them around does nothing.

What you need to do is scrap them (yes scrap, dont store) and rebuild them and that will fix it.

I'm not sure if this has caused it but I've dropped and scrapped a tonne of loot on the island, this has given me a massive amount of resources but has also lowered the build cap which I've been told can lead to bugs and/or corrupt saves.

The low or no water bug is cropping up repeatedly at Sanctuary and other water farm sites with one or more purifiers.

I've tried every fix mentioned in forums all over the web. Even when I get water flowing again, it proves to be short lived. Some sites have never recovered or produced water relative to expected amounts..

Yes- All my sites are self-sufficient in water and food (no dependency on other settlements for supplies).

I empty everything from other sites with every visit. I've cleared the workbench, left one or many water behind, replaced or built additional generators and purifiers.. You name it.

One thing is clear. We don't have a definitive answer about what causes the problem, or how to fix it.

"Solutions" offered by others don't work reliably for everyone (or only provide temporary relief).

Very irritating to put in all the work and resources to build a proper settlement / water farm, only to see it malfunction.

More irritating is the lack of feedback (or even acknowledgment) from Bethesda that this is a problem that will ever be solved.

I was hoping the community might figure out what causes the problem, so we could at least try to avoid it.

Nothing yet I'm afraid..

my solution was to have only pure water in the aid section at the work bench. i kept other aid stuff at the work bench but notice no new pure water. remove all aid. came back later and there was pure water at the work bench.
