Gunner's Faction doesn't make sense in game.

My bet is on cut content. They have the setup to be a faction (history with the minutemen, command structure...) with some sidequests. I guess deadline came sooner than they were finished, so turning them into a raider group was probably the shortcut.

There are plenty of raiders. I wish there was more to Gunners. That would be interesting.

i think it would be cool to have a dlc about the gunners where you could potentially become the leader of the gunner and decide to become an evil mercanary overlord or turn them into something good working woth the minutemen

To me, the Gunners seem more like the Survivalists from The Postman than they do any mercenary group. The obsession with army gear, the tribal system of tattoos, the starting fights just for the thrill of it.

The problem is, the way they are portrayed doesn't match what we're told in the loading screens. Which more goes to show Bethesda's continuing stupidity in giving us spoliery lore-dumps in a frigging loading screen. I want to discover and play in the gameworld Bethesda, not have it explained at me in text with a a helpful 3d model.

maybe gunners become a dlc faction who knows... on the other hand i kinda like having more specific npc enemy factions besides just "raiders"

Same thoughts, that'd be quite common considering all the unfinished contents through previous games like Elder scrolls and FO3 , it looks to be the reason behind it.

Sounds like good Marketing, first cut off Content so the Player thinks something is missing and then bring on the DLC's for Money. Kind of Microtransactions from EA.

well honestly, regarding the sheer amount of content in bethesda games i think the "cut content to sell it as dlc" card is really not justified with them or can you name any other single player game series like tes/fo with as many hours-per-dollar? outside of maybe strategy/4x

quality content that is! not some korea grind s*

I get what you're saying and don't disagree with your point, but it definitely wouldn't be Preston hiring them.

Me too. I like how they made the Forge. I had some fun reading their files . And I liked that I I had some troubles killing them. And the whole Ironworks location reminded me about Terminator 2. Gunners look a bit boring campare to it. Just some military themed raiders. But it`s still much better than to have only raiders.
