Audio system could not be initialized

Just upgraded to win7, trying to boot into GECK and keep getting this message. Not even remotely sure what this vague error message means. Either way, GECK instantly closes after I acknowledge this prompt. Kind of annoying.

Did you...

* Install the Geck patch v1.5
* Install the Geck into the \Fallout folder
* Install Fallout 3 first
* Update your audio drivers to the latest version
* Have an audio card
* Have the right codecs installed (see http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm if not)
* Gotten fed up with trying to get fallout stuff to work with Windows 7

Yes to all the above (especially the last one). Although, I got FO3 and GECK to run in wine in Ubuntu through virtualbox on win7.
