Run more than one instance at the same time?

Hi, I'd like to be able to use mods that allow for two players to play together in the same world, but I only have one machine so I am not quite sure how this could be approached. I previously asked about creating additional camera objects, but I'm not skilled enough (yet) as a programmer to mess with the memory of a game so that's pretty much off the table for me.

I thought about using virtual machines - one for each monitor - and have the game run in it's own instance. I could then use internal networking to put them together. My computer would certainly be powerful enough to run more than once instance - A titan 980 Ti and an intel i7 4.5 Ghz 6 cores, both water cooled, with a system that could go up to 128 GB of ram with M.2 ssd.

The problem is that, as best I can tell (unless that changed), VMware Workstation Pro won't allow me to use a video card with it, even if I install multiple cards. and the only other product I could find is vSphere which seems like overkill. I will probably use one or more virtual machine for programming projects anyway, but if anyone knows of a good way to get this to work that would be great.

Alternatively, would there be a way to run more than once instance of Skyrim, each with it's own install path, saves, mods etc. and expect them to be able to talk to each other? This computer supports up to 4 monitors and I am sure even with high quality mods it could handle 2 without breaking a sweat.

Steam allows only one instance of any game running at the same time.

Adding a split screen will be way easier than syncing the two games via netcode, trust me.

I don't use steam. I buy physical games. Regardless, physical or Steam, I am well aware of that fact. I wouldn't have asked for a solution if I wasn't facing that problem to begin with.

On the other hand, if Steam has a different process for the game, I'd be willing to buy it on Steam to go along with the physical disc. Then it would be treated like different games running.

Well, I don't need it to be split screen. I have multiple monitor support. However, if the camera positions are fixed in memory, and if I haven't done any work editing memory yet, and if no one else has done it, that eliminates it as a possibility.

Skyrim needs Steam to run; the "physical disc" is used only for installing the game; it's Steam that makes the executables and install the updates.

As the moon lady, said you need Steam to even run the game. In your case, you'll need two copies, either physical or downloaded, on two different Steam accounts. You'll also need a piece of VM software that'll recognize your video card so you can have both copies of Steam running to have two copies of the game running. There are ways to have Skyrim run without using Steam, but we can't discuss such hacks here because they're illegal and violate the terms of service you agreed to when you bought the game.

I knw this is a bit farfetched. But have you about running 2 separate VM's on one machine with each outputting to a different monitor like so?
