Steam auto download in offline mode?

Post » Wed Feb 03, 2016 2:19 pm

I am literally starting to pull out what hair I have left. I have looked at the front page of Google for this, browsed threads in Steam forums and cannot find anything related to the general Steam auto downloading to update the client, while in offline mode.

I don't remember this being an issue. Am I just missing something and it has always been this way?

What is it updating, exactly? Is it forcibly scanning my gaming habits?

Just to be clear, I am not referring to the individual game updates.

Um I told you guys I had this problem way back in 2011 when I made this Bethesda Softworks forums account.

I have the same exact problem where when I switch Steam to offline mode it automatically switches me back to online mod to auto update the PC versions of video games that have the latest patches released.

Remember I told you guys Gabe Newell said he fixed this bug back in what was it 2012? And I never had this bug fixed.

I have and had the PC versions of some video games on Steam set to not auto update and they still auto updated.

I get one of these offline client updates once every week or two. I doubt it has anything to do with our gaming habits. My assumption is that the updates are for features like the store, and the forums, and so on.

Mine happens for both the Steam client itself and the PC versions of video games that have the latest patches released.

I'm just rather phobic about downloads that I have no idea what's being downloaded. A game update, while I know what it is, I may not want it yet. This is taken care of by setting Steam to not update the game within the Steam settings. Alas, there is nothing to stop Steam from updating the client.

Maybe I'm worrying over nothing.

Did you not read I also said I have the video games set to not auto update. The singleplayer only video games that is and they still switch to auto update.
