Maybe I missed some dialogues but with who is MacCready's son?

His wife is dead and it seems like he left the kid sick alone!

That is true. His wife Lucy died, and he left his son back in the DC Wasteland. The son is indeed sick and he came to the Commonwealth to find Medicine for him. Probably not his best decision, but it is what it is.

Yeah, so basically MacCreedy, sends the cure back home, and "abandons" is son so that he can hang out with you.

One way to look at it is that he still needs caps especially since he returns his hiring fee to you. So "supposedly" while he is traveling around with you, you are giving him a cut of the caps so that it can be sent home to support his son.

It is anologous to someone from a foreign country working in the US, and sending back some of his wages to support his / her family back home.

He never tell you "I leave him with a friend" or something like that.

True, but i guess it is implied. He does know people in the DC Wasteland, maybe he left him with the kids in Little Lamplight, or in Big Town with red? She was the town medic there.

It is basically left to your imagination. Sure it is a "mystery", but it is not exactly important nor is it game breaking.

I am going to say MacCreedy has a pet Legendary Deathclaw watching over his son.

I just imagine his son living in Little Lamplight since he's a kid and those kids take care of each other, especially if it was a request from the major mungo. He's too poor to hire a nanny since he's working as a mercenary and his asking price is pretty low.

Haha, yeah.


A lot of things are completely OK being left unexplained.



It wasn`t hard for me to think McCready has someone trustworthy to take care of his son.,


Megaton, Rivet City, Little Lamplight... they can all take in one more kid especially if the father is willing to pay the price.

My headcanon is that my lone wanderer is looking after his son, since clearly she could not go to Boston for medicine and become my SS's follower lol

do we know how old mcCready is (i don't precisely, since i haven't played his questline yet)

MacCready is 22 years old.

I doubt that the son is 20 years old. Since McCready is most likely in the early Twenties since he was a child in FO3 which took place 10 years before.

He was 12 in Fallout 3, and it was 10 years passed until Fallout 4. Even if he has a kid at 12 years old which is very unlikely, I would say Duncan should be around around 5-6 years old give or take anyway.
