Disable Godrays Impossible Now?

Post » Sat Feb 06, 2016 8:57 pm

I have an older PC I used on occasion with a Phenom II X4 processor. I'd like to disable Godrays and previous to the patch this week I could hit the Low preset and the work the other options up from there. The Godrays would stay disable. Now nothing disables them - they always revert to Low after closing the options window. I've tried in the .ini file as well and even when set to "0" they aren't disabled. Does anyone know of a workaround to turn them off?

Could this be a UI issue, in that it says they are enabled, but they are not really enabled in the game?

Are you using the Beta Patch? I have not kept up on the game to know if the last Beta Patch went public or not and I am not at home to check. IF it is still a beta, then this thread needs to be moved to the beta section as it should be able to disable the God Rays.

Ran into the same problem, only way is to revert back to the last official patch. Brought it up in the beta, but got ignored.

Have you changed the correct file in the correct folder?

----------------

C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

Fallout4prefs.ini

bVolumetricLightingEnable=0

-----------------

Something else to try:

open the console (~)

Type: gr off

Make a new save. Noe load that new save, and hopefully god rays stays disabled!

Guess that's what I'll need to do as well. I have another unpatched PC with FO4. Do I just copy the .exe file over to this one (and set Steam as offline)?

Mark, I'll try those before I revert the patch, but doesn't changes to the console just last until the next login?

Normally - yes, therefore i suggested to save after you type gr off.

Well, try out and see. :P

Also with gr info you get information about the state of god rays.

Other option is the Fallout 4 configuration tool on the nexus. Since disabling it in the options and config file is not happening due to having to turn multiple things off. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102/?
